BYOR Dinner Date [Winner: danryan]

Postby PaulusH on Fri Jun 12, 2009 2:02 pm

Bring Your Own Recipe Dinner Date

News
danryan is the overall winner =D>

All the 25 different recipes have been made by the restaurant and each was served to 5 people.
Everybody finished all their dishes.
I had the impression that most of you had fun and looking to the time some people took for a specific dish I think some had a good date
Complete status overview can be found in post2 as well as in the first post at page 2 ;)

The 3 predictions made on 12 June (time of first post) had a mistake of 0%; 6% and 27%. So average 11%.
Compared to other predictions this is a typical value to expect

Headlines
Premiums as well as non-premiums are welcome in this restaurant.
At the start you play one game and 2 weeks after the start you play in two games.

At entering you should fill in the next form:
------------------------FORM------------------------------------
Name of dish: ………
Kind of dish: ----- / ----- /-----/ Drinks / -----*.
Recipe: Map: ………**
Game type: Standard / Terminator / Assassin / Doubles / Triples*.
Spoils: Escalating / Flat Rate / No Spoils*.
    Reinforcements: Chained / Adjacent / Unlimited *.
    FOW: Sunny / Fog*
Optional tell more about the dish or why the recipe fits with that dish.
--------------------END OF FORM-------------------------------
**Maps related to WWII are not allowed and all maps have to be unique :!:
*just take one of these options.
From each kind of dish I need 5 recipes. Each starter will be freestyle all others sequential.
Giving the complete needed information in another way is also possible; as long as your information is not complete you will be added to the reserve list. Edit (19-6): in case only one or two settings are missing I will just put something in.
edit1: taken out Desert as option: full.
edit2: taken out Main dish as option: full.
edit3: taken out Starter as option: full.
edit4: taken out Soup as option: full

After the Desert you get from me some Vodka from the Soviet Union, basically to talk over the complete Dinner Date. At finishing that game you will terminate this tournament, since it will be your last game in this tournament. Of course we don’t want our Vodka to be spoiled, but it could cause some fog in your head. (In other words game-settings: Map: Soviet Union; Game type: terminator; Spoils: No Spoils; FOW: Fog)
In case you have no idea for a dish look at one of the earlier Dinner Dates:

Planning
Start first games on 4 July. You need to be able to start your game at that moment.
From 18th July onwards you need to be able to play two games within this tournament

Bring Your Own Recipe Dinner Date
This time we would like to do something special with the Dinner Date series. We would like to give you the opportunity to put something personal in it, so we let you bring in your own recipe. Don’t worry about the preparation, we have a very good cook: he can make nearly everything only Quadruples are too difficult. Since this is becoming personal we expect that everybody is visiting for the date (and not to for getting a free dinner). Since you get your own recipe, you better take care it will be something to be proud of. And to thank you for a nice dish, you will get the double amount of tulips for your own dish.
As in all Dinner Dates the group of 25 people is too large for one big table. This is solved as follows: All people are divided over 5 tables (5 people each). You will get your starter there, but it will be 5 different starters depending on who of your table did bring a recipe as starter. For the soup you have to change over to another table; in fact the 25 people are reshuffled over 5 tables again. In fact the people of this dinner date you meet at your soup will be different compared to your starter table. And also here the kind of soup you get depend on who of your table did bring the recipe. In fact this swapping persons in between dishes continues until the end. Each time a dish for you is served you have 48 hours to start eating, we have to be nice to the people who did bring in the recipe.
Using the windmill system makes sure that the end of the six dishes you will have been on a table with all 24 other participants visiting this dinner date.
You start at one table, but since everything is served on different tables you have to walk through the restaurant after two weeks. In that way you still see the interesting people that you met before with another dish.

I expect that you all will enjoy your time at my restaurant.

The recipes
That is all up to you now accept for the 6th dish the vodka:
6th Dish: Soviet Union; sequential; terminator; No Spoils; Fog

Score
As score we use the windmill score. You will get more tulips in case you leave a table later. You will get for each game 21, 17, 13, 9 or 7 tulips depending on your position. The winner gets 21 tulips
The reason why WWII maps are not allowed is because they have another score.
Your score for the map & settings you did bring in, will double. So in case you would be third in that game you get 13+13=26 tulips, while the winner in that case still “only” gets 21 tulips.
In case of teams the teammates in the tournament will share the tullips of their complete team. Teams end at 1st, 2nd or third place depending on the last player of that team in the game. For assassin games the winner gets the 21 tulips; the person eliminated is at last place and the other remaining people share the remaining tulips.

In case there is at the end of the competition a tie in number of tulips collected, the results of game(s) in which those persons where in together will show there relative position. In that case the doubling of a score will not count.

Any needed reserve will get the same number of tulips as the person at position 7 at that moment. Furthermore he -or she- will get one extra bonus tulip.

Predictions
Predictions like this are easily not 100% correct, see my earlier tournament with predictions: link. The problem is that they really are only predictions.
• Expected start first games at 4 July.
Invitations send on the 4th. So here a score of 100%
• Expected start last game on 17 September
In reality last invitations send on 23rd, that is 6 days too late. Prediction made on 12 June. 23 Sep - 12 Jun = 103 days. 6/103= 6% mistake
• Expected the very last game to be finished at 19 October
In reality the last game ended already on 6 December. Calculating in the same way that is a mistake of 27%

Extra info, not really needed to know.

Postby PaulusH on Sun Jun 14, 2009 11:26 am

Currently this gives more detail on why the recipes must be correct
And it also gives the complete general windmill scoring. With the windmill scoring all kind of games can be mixed, for instance standard games with team games.

Settings games
That is all up to you now accept for the 6th dish the vodka, but that is explained already.

General windmill scoring
In fact there are two groups of maps each having there own scoring. The reason for that is that in WWII people start eating tulips because of the hunger.

The complete windmill system scoring is up to 8 persons. Simply leave out lowest in case you play with less.
Score: get 21, get 17, get 13, get 9, get 7, get 5, get 3 or get 1 tulip
WWII: eat 0, eat 4, eat 8, eat 12, eat 14, eat 16, eat 18 or eat 20 tulips.
It is never possible to have negative tulips.
Reserve player: get one tulip extra on top of starting quantity of current position 7.

Mixing of standard, terminator, all team-setting and most assassins is possible. Assassin with 7 players is not perfect and for assassin with 6 players a small trick is used.

As already mentioned in the first post basically the starters are freestyle and the others sequential.

I'm a big fan of kooking with Habanero peppers. They'll knock your socks off.

They have to be dessert or else you won't taste the other courses.

You don't need any spoils because you're getting all you can handle, already.

Chained reinforcements make sense because the next day, you'll be hollering "come on ice cream". You definitely want that chain to be unbroken!

Fog because once u eat the dish, your eyes will be watering and u won't be able to see a thing!

sampdawgy, the Great Lakes map was already used by LordZack72; I shifted you to the USA Great Lakes.
It still is possible to change the map to another one.
In case that another map would not fit with "sexy sticks", you can also change to another dish with complete other settings.

Thanks for joining (but that is also for all others).

danryan,
It seems to me as a something people are looking forward to get as dessert
So I did put it in as dessert. In case you would like it differently, just let me know

Hi danryan, I did get an extra person in for a dessert and suddenly your dish looked much better to use as main dish :P

Hi masterchief12323,
I interpret your enterence that I should take the best dish to be used at this lovely dinner date, thank you O:)
That is of course very difficult and depends on what other dishes are coming in, but I will make it a good match

I did put you as well as MasterGuns as a start at the reserves. Simply because I need reserves and to enter directly I need at least a name of a dish and a map ;)
