Not sure if there is a way to make it obvious to a kindergartner (like me) what stations connect to the others and which might not. Trains will get sorted better to see what connects to what. As of right now Salem only connects to S. Reading .

Weymouth touches only one terit (just making sure)? This will be fixed as it will also touch Braintree

One quick comment is that this board seems to be a 1v1 board since the bonuses seem impossible in trips or quads and more or less impossible in dubs. I haven't come up with an idea but if there were another bonus possible that would require defending two different attack strats, it might make for more interesting gameplay. Or not since you have been thinking about this a lot longer than I have. I have some ideas on this. The gameplay is not done yet and some things will still need to be sorted out. Once this map is done I hope that it will work well across many game types.

Island between Chelsea and Winthrop? That Island is part of Boston Proper. I would think the color would make that obvious?

I think it would look better just having big bold dark border lines to indicate impassables
instead of these huge "x"'s

As for Robespierre's comment.
May I Suggest doing that with your train stations...

Control.2.stations.Bonus.+1
Control.3.stations.Bonus.+2
Control.4.stations.Bonus.+3
Control.5.stations.Bonus.+4
Control.6.stations.Bonus.+5

Then it will make the larger games mostly an initial battle to capture and control these rail lines.

The impassables are not set in stone yet. They could shift around and be changed.

As for the train bonus idea it is an interesting idea that I will look into.

It's pretty, but what would it be like for someone who's colour blind?

Looking forward to this, to remind me of my years living in Boston.

Maybe you could group the towns by county for bonuses?

"Brigton" is spelled incorrectly; it should be "Brighton"
"Watertown" should be one word

That is a gorgeous map, and befitting to one of my favorite cities.

I will say, being colorblind, it is a little tough to distinguish the different bonus territories. I also feel like they're isn't a ton of commonality in the bonus areas. Have you thought about gearing the bonuses more to things that make Boston unique (universities, historical landmarks, etc)?

And why did you choose the year 1852?

I'm sorry if these were already answered in the thread, I'm just now seeing this and wanted to pay my thoughts while they were fresh.

I think a dark outline encircling the 3 segments of Boston proper crossing the necessary parts of the harbor as if they were water jurisdictions would make it more clear even though it alters the look of the historic map... and doing the same for the 2 necessary segments of Hingham in the lower right... especially given our colorblind friends.... on big new maps i find it easy to miss these things the first time or three I play ... but bravo on a nice idea :D
I wish either my father or my mother, or indeed both of them as they were in duty both equally bound to it, had minded what they were about when....

If 2 player fog game, please allow 12 hour snap courtesy, or post what I could have seen.... Thank you

the maps not accurate for the city (Cities) its way past greater Boston and there is def no train like that going to Lexington. nor do any of those trains connect the way you have it .I live here - I can help with little details like this if you like

Its actually not greater boston you have here you have gone way beyond what Bostonians would consider greater Boston. In a city with so many landmarks and vast public transport system seems a shame to miss those items for the sake of a map of what I would call most of eastern Ma

the colour-coding is an improvement, even if there are a few details to be worked out.

Bruceswar wrote:Waymouth / Braintree border fixed

the border clearly exists now.

this certainly qualifies to be moved to the main foundry workshop.

The elephant in the drawing room is that this map has been 'in process' for 4+ years...
Let's just put it up as Beta and play the darn thing.

The year 1852 was just a map i used as a reference.

The bonus structure is random and that is the best part about this map. Let's try something new for a change on cc.

As for the color blind issue... How bad is it for you?

This map will not be 100% accurate. The train lines are mythical to help out the game play. While they might exist that is not their purpose, but help is always welcome and those train lines are not set in stone.

Lincoln, Bedford, W. Cambridge, Woburn, Winchester all look pretty similar to me. Lynn and Saugus and Swampscott do as well.

Normally it is not too much of an issue since bonuses are geographic or at least continuous, but with the randomness of the bonus zones on this one, I anticipate having quite a few problems.

I edited above but Bruce this isnt greater Boston more like Eastern MA. Why not use the historical events or landmarks and make it of Boston proper. Either that or call it what it is. Eastern Ma... even by your date its eastern ma. And if its 1852 get rid of the trains eh

That is not a map of eastern Mass. Greater Boston is a good name for it.
