How to use the pen tool? (Photoshop)

Ahoy fair folk of the foundry!

I've previously dabbled with the use of the pen tool in Photoshop, but have never really got to grips with it - something I'd like to try and change...

Are there any useful tips, tricks, keyboard shortcuts, advice, guidance, etc. that anybody would like to share to try and help make my learning easier? I'm also not too sure what all the different pen tools (ie when it adds an x + o or changes the arrow type) do or are best used for.

I'm painfully aware that I sound like a complete n00b, and would gladly be treated as such in this instance :P

Cheers,

MrB

the.Killing.44 posted a quick tutorial on my 13 Colonies thread to help me make my ship lines a ton better. Once I used it to make the ship lines I started to get the basics of it and then with a little experience I got a lot better with it. The key toworking with new tools is todo something with the basics of it and then practice and experiment, which is basically what I've been doing.

I highly recommend his quick tutorial on pg. 17 of my 13, colonies thread (you gotta click the little Show thing).

Aye, if it's lines you're looking for, viewtopic.php?f=468&t=78339&start=270#p2285824 is the direct link to what Helix's talking about. Pretty basic and easy to do.
