Map Movement Charts

...in case anyone is interested. Intended as an information source only, not kindling for a forum fire. I'll update this about once a month.

Colours are explained in the legend. Maps that are in the Main Foundry are included, but Draft Forum are not.
x-axis is the map number
y-axis is the days until quench (or current days in the case of stamped but not quenched maps)
Black line with the x's in it is the average of all maps
Black line without the x's is the recent average (last 20% of maps of that type)

Average recent time to quench (FF maps only)
1st map: 250 days (8.5 months)
2nd map: 190 days (6.5 months)
3rd map: 175 days (6 months)
4th+ map: 190 days (6.5 months)
All maps: 190 days (6.5 months)

Foundry stats
First mapmakers: 8
Second mapmakers: 0
Third mapmakers: 0
Fourth+ mapmakers: 5
(Revamps and map packs not included)

Wow, I find that to be the most interesting stat. It's such an arduous process that only a few truly masochistic souls come back for a second attempt.

Somewhere there's a list of maps by mapmaker (anybody remember where?)... I'd be curious to see how many multiple-map mapmakers there are, and how many maps we average. I bet once you drop all the folks who make one and walk away the average is surprisingly high.

thanks for that one, e_i_pi. Needs some updating, since at least some of those "foundry" maps have been quenched I think (like mine).

I'm surprised to see that there are as many 2-map-makers as there are... though some (gimil?) may have more than two now.

I think it depends on what you list them as...

In this list I am down for 2 - which is correct - as those are the 2 maps that I created - Conquer 4 & Poker.

The other 10 or so I have medals for are "other peoples" maps...

I have made 4 maps, with 1 in final forge and 1 in drafts.

I am intrested in how you came to the decision on who gets what map? I am guessing for me you class new worlds as colemans and conquer 4 as yeti. Thats fine with me I am just wondering if I am correct.

I was under the impression that this is just an outdated list... I have five quenched, one forged, one main foundry. If this isn't an old list, then yes, it needs to have an explanation attached - maybe it is by who started the map thread? Forf example, in my case I did the graphics for Scotland but did not run the thread.

Yeah - I reckon it's map starter - which is often a valid way of seeing whose map it actually is.

I'm a 2nd-map-maker now... Europa has just been quenched, and Wales is in the Main Foundry waiting for an update... I'd like to know how up-to-date the list is?

I got the map list from yeti's thread of timeline of quenched maps. I attributed the maps to the person who started the thread. Next update I'll break each map down into who did XML, GFX, etc, so there will be multiple attributions, and also a graph showing map times as ppl per map. Obviously one person doing everything is going to take longer than 2-4 people working on the one project (in most cases)

To little map maker doing all works on map(gameplay, grapich, xml).

you need to add:
wcaclimbing (1 - 2)
Oasis Quenched.
Panama and Winter are both in the Drafts forum.

EDIT: never mind. that list is old...

Main Foundry are the only ones counted in this list anyhow, I'm not going trawling through Drafts :)
