Finally had some spare time for another update...I've only taken care of the mountains for now, rivers will be in the next update.

You better hurry up, we need 'normal' maps in each quench group to keep the purists happy.

Alright, heres the next update then :)

I've tried adding a blur to the river mouths using photoshop. Please keep in mind, from now on this will be a bit of a nuisance updating, as I have to import it into photoshop each time and blur it again each time.

Looks good, you got all the lines outta the mts.! =D> Tough try to blur it a little more near the right side and i know you just made it so Adorra is more transperant but try to make it a little more visible.

I don't follow... are you not working from a photoshop file to begin with?

Anyway, my thoughts... overall I like it. Straightforward, should play well. Little big regions in the center, small bonuses around the outside.

I like the playfulness of many of your elements: the bridges, the mountains, the color choice, and the type face. Some elements don't play along, however, especially the symbols in what would be France. When you have some serious elements it makes the less serious elements look like they aren't that way intentionally.

My biggest concern is with the borders. The territory borders are very fine, while the borders between regions are very heavy. It gives the impression that they are unpassables, which of course they aren't. I would prefer to see all of the borders the same weight, or at least more similar than they are at present. The color difference alone would be enough to define the bonus regions.

And are there a couple of stray lines going through the image? One cuts right through Iberia.

OK, I gave you enough headaches for one post - I look forward to seeing this progress! :)

What would you suggest I replace it with?

I'll try thinning out the borders a bit.

Changes:
- Made Andorra name a bit less transparent
- Got rid of those background lines
- Thinned the continent borders slightly

In regards to the images, I like the way they are presented. They are stylish and pleasant to the eye. Do they fit with the map? I'm not sure. I have no real gripes about them staying or leaving, since my eye is mostly focused on all the deliciously bright territory colors. :)

I'm not sure if they fit either, but I dont have any artistic images on the map, and I figure coats of arms are good political representation. Since everyone seems happy with this version now, heres the large version: :)

Looks great Bad Speler. I like the images in the gray area. without them it would just be too much dead space. Still my only question is why you can't get the grainy water pattern to show in your rivers? It seriously is something that I'm not worried about, as your map is ready for quenching, I'm just wondering if it's the way you built your layers - and would require reworking too much?

And why would anyone need a large map when the small map is perfect! Nice job (again) man. Can't wait to play.

Unfortunately thats the best I can get the rivers. I've tried made the textures show up as much as I could. EDIT: funny how somtimes the simplest solutions tend to be missed...it turns out I've accidently been using a different water texture from a previous version. I'll see how well i can get it to show up now. Thanks for your persistance in this Rj, or i may never have caught this error.

Turns out I did have time today, I've fixed the rivers by adding the same texture as the ocean (finally). Cantabria name and shadow was also moved a bit.

The map looks great. But I have found a few slight mistakes in the XML coordinates.

Small Map:

Move up one pixel:

Palencia
Zamora
Valladolid
Segovia
Porto
Coimbra
Guarda
Leiria
Lisboa

Move left one pixel:

Lisboa

Large Map:

Move up one pixel:

Valladolid
Segovia
Soria
Porto
Vila Real
Bragance
Coimbra
Guarda
Lieria
Lisboa
Orense

Thats all, just get those fixed it will be ready for Final Forge.

              Final Forge

---The Iberia Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry Furnace (okay, maybe not) and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

And as an interesting side note, while editing the title for Final Forge, I happened to look at the First Post Date...
