Filter Out 'Reserved' Games

PostPosted: Sat Sep 12, 2009 2:34 pm

Now, I apologise if this has been discussed previously, and I apologies if the format of this topic is incorrect, but I hope I get my point across, and welcome any ideas/opinions etc.

When I use the 'Game Finder' and search for Public games, I don't want to see a huge list of games that are 'Reserved'. What use are they to me? I can't enter them, so why bother?

Either:

a) Remove them, so I can't see them.
b) Allow me to select 'Reserved' or 'Non-Reserved' as a selection criteria when finding games.

INITIAL TROOPS FILTER BUT NO RESERVE FILTER?

I see you did add a filter for initial troops to game finder, why didn't you also add the reserve game filter while you were in there? Can you please add it now while your memory is fresh?

Heh so is this just not happening? I am curious how the process works, like how something goes from "Suggestion" to "Fixed". I am looking for a "Reserved" and "Unreserved" choice in Game Finder.

[GF] Hide reserved games in game finder

Hide reserved games in game finder
  • In the game finder, hide the games that are reserved (where people are invited, so others aren't allowed to join)

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • It will make the game finder more easy to use. When you search for games you don't have to scroll through 2 pages of games where half of them are reserved. You can't join them, so why would you wanna see them?

Oh ok, I checked the post with all the implemented and rejected suggestions and I think this wasn't there.

But well, maybe better luck this time.

Ignore "Reserved" Games in Game Finder

Concise description:
  • When using the Game Finder tool, do not include, or have an option to exclude, games with only reserved spots left. These are essentially private games.

Specifics:
  • Games with only reserved spots should not appear in Game Search if you select Public games. I realize that sometimes there are some empty slots with reserved slots.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • Game Finder will no longer include games which you cannot join.

I think when you search a game you should be able to choose reserved in joinability. I hate when i search for game and I want to join them but they are reserved. Also I hate going trought all the games that are reserved that I cant join.

Agreed. Fully reserved games shouldn't come up in the Game Finder.

I noticed that "nuclear" spoils have been added to game finder, couldn't you have added a filter for reserved/unreserved games as well? This remains as annoying as ever.

Thanks!

I agree with this. Not a huge issue, but definitely annoying.

Cool idea mate, wonder how hard it would be to code.

Concise description:
Put new search option in Game Finder: "Reserved" or "open"

Specifics:
Reserved = games that are reserved ****
Open = games that have openings****

**** Games with some reserved and some open spots would appear in both lists.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
Easier on people looking for games.

Filter Reserved/Non Reserved Games In Game Finder

Filter Reserved/Non Reserved Games In Game Finder

Specifics/Details:
I have mentioned this before, I don't know why it just hasn't been added. In Game Finder, add a radio button or checkbox that will be used to include or exclude reserved games from Game Finder. Or at a minimum, games that are full and unjoinable because all available slots are reserved. It's most annoying searching for 2 player games to join. You added the Javascript to show/hide the reserved player in question, please do this as well.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
It will make searching for games a player can join easier for everyone.

This sounds good on the face of it.

Perhaps split 'Waiting for Players'
to
'Waiting for Players' and 'Waiting to Begin.'

Hide games that are not joinable from join a game

Concise description:
  • Hide games that you can't join from the join a game page

Games Would be hidden IF:
  • All spots in the game have been invited
  • Someone in the game has you on their foe list

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • The Join A Game page will be less cluttered, and will allow users to more quickly find a game that they both want to play in, and are allowed to join.

It shouldn't be hard to code. Not counting BR's (because they aren't affected by either of these), there can be a MAXIMUM of seven people to check foe-lists, and the games that have been fully reserved now say that, so taking them off the page should be very easy.

I think it would be a nice toggle rather than hard code no-option.
