[PC] Ratings Report Card

Postby adowell on Sat Dec 15, 2012 4:55 pm

Concise description:
I am seeing quite a few people reporting ratings abuse in the cheating/abuse forum that are reporting people that if they lose their match, they give a rating of 1. I have a suggestion of a report I think many would find useful, and that the moderators would also find very useful.

Specifics/Details:
I think that a viewable report that give the following information would be great to see.

Ratings Left (Overall):
5 stars (# times) (percentage)
4 stars (# times) (percentage)
3 stars (# times) (percentage)
2 stars (# times) (percentage)
1 star ( # times) (percentage)

Games Won Ratings Left:
5 stars (# times) (percentage of won)
4 stars (# times) (percentage of won)
3 stars (# times) (percentage of won)
2 stars (# times) (percentage of won)
1 star ( # times) (percentage of won)

Games Lost Ratings Left:
5 stars (# times) (percentage of lost)
4 stars (# times) (percentage of lost)
3 stars (# times) (percentage of lost)
2 stars (# times) (percentage of lost)
1 star ( # times) (percentage of lost)

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Will deter ratings abuse
  • Will allow moderators instant access to view persistant ratings abuse by users
  • Will allow easier access for users to choose who they join games with
  • Will help members "self check" themselves and if show trends of aggression
  • Helps everyone spot sore losers

(Here is my post where others requested that I bring my idea to suggestions)

I guess it depends on how you view the ratings system. From what I've seen of the way the accused treats the system, he considers it a way of getting back at players he loses to by publically rating them as cheaters after the game, and by threatening players in game with bad ratings for cheating if they don't allow him to win.

I don't particularly like the new rating system, but whatever you think about it, deliberately rating players as low as possible and accusing them of cheating when you lose seems like an abuse of what the ratings system is in place for- to show which players are good to play a game with.

It would be nice to see a report that showed the following.

Ratings Left:
Games Won Ratings Left:
5 stars (# times)
4 stars (# times)
3 stars (# times)
2 stars (# times)
1 star ( # times)

Games Lost Ratings Left:
5 stars (# times)
4 stars (# times)
3 stars (# times)
2 stars (# times)
1 star ( # times)

To have lost over 300 games, if he just gave crappy ratings when he lost, i think it would have came up by now... Just a thought. I'm still new, so I may just be nieve. :)

That might be a good idea to put in the Suggestions thread- to be able to view ratings left Amazon style.

I should've been a bit clearer though- he doesn't always do it when he loses, but he does it pretty often. It's worth looking at his ratings left page and clicking through some of the many players he accuses of cheating. Worth a look at the chats in-game for those too.

To be absolutely fair, it looks like him doing this has become more frequent recently.

Hmph, don't try to look innocent! You've been a member for a few weeks and are already acting like you've been here for years. That of course leads me to think you have been, on a different account. I've seen many multies in my years on this site, and you act (and look) like one.

It was something that he suggested in the C&A forum, and I suggested that he put it here. It seemed like a good suggestion for people to look at how players rate each other. The way he's acting by posting this here is because I suggested it. And I have been here for years.

Play nice Gillipig.

So anyway- I think there's a few good points to this suggestion:

1) It helps people who care about ratings easily look through ratings given or received.
2) It helps with the many complaints about rating abuse in the C&A forum.
3) It seems like something easily implementable.

I can see a couple of downsides though:

1) With regards to history, a player who radically changes his/her approach to ratings could be easily masked.
2) At best, this could only be a better tool for players.

Not bad! I'd see this more as an add-on, though, but it's an intriguing idea.

Aye, I kind of like it, although pretty much anything to shake up the current ratings system so that it's easier for players to assess seems like a good idea to me.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who knows if this is implementable though.
