Can you give me a more detailed example of the handicapping, using the F400 and showing all your math.

Here you go. The first example is obviously extreme and wouldn't happen because RS would not be allowed in the tournament. It's all hypothetical until I know which clans participate.

KORT: 1393/40=34.852
RS: 656/40=16.4
Difference=18.452
Handicap KORT=18.452
Handicap RS=0
15/40=0.375x100=37.5%
37.5%x18.452=6.9195
Decimals ignored=6
If KORT were to play RS KORT would have to win 6 games more than RS
With 15 games KORT would have to win 11 of the 15 games to win the round
Now lets’ have PACK play MYTH:
PACK: 1297/40=32.245-16.4=16.025
MYTH: 1063/40=26.575-16.4=10.175
Difference=5.85
37.5%x5.85=2.1937
Decimals ignored=2
PACK (ranked 4) would have to win 2 games more than MYTH (ranked 14) to win the round.

ohhhhh you said "the ranking of the clan is divided by 40" so for KORT i was doing 1 / 40. Thank you for showing the example.

Sorry, my mistake, I meant "Rating". I'll change it in the OP.

Thanks.

Good luck to all in this competition - looks like a good one and I'll look forward to being able to enter in 2 years time :-P

To be eligible for participation in this tournament, a clan has to:

  • Be a competitive clan since before January 1st, 2011.
  • Adhere to the “1 clan rule”.
  • Be listed on the F400 Ranking.
  • Have completed a minimum of 4 clan wars during 2011 and 2012.
  • Have completed at least 1 clan war in both years.

So, clans must be over 2 years old to participate. That seems kind of like an arbitrary date to me. Was there a reason that you chose that date?

Don't know why you use the word arbitrary. I wanted to create an event for established clans (as opposed to the Newcomers Cup, for example). Looking at the F400 Ranking and everything else going on in the clan world, I figured 2 years was a good amount of time on CC to call a clan established. I didn't just pick a date without any research, if that's what you mean....

So, you're saying you researched it or that you figured it was a good date?

I said arbitrary because it seems like a random date that doesn't have a lot of use other than to do it.

Do you think you'll get enough sign ups to keep the MVP award?

It just excludes quite a number of clans who may want & be able to participate if not for that longevity criterion etc. (Like Chap's Fallen etc)
I'm sure there could potentially be other methods to be able to verify how established a clan is?
For example, the merger between AoC & Emp may not qualify, but I'd imagine that overall with the Clan experience within our Combined clan (perhaps if you judge by average clan medals/longevity) we'd rival any of the most established clans.

I'm also concerned with how much appeal this could have for the Top Clans. It is another intriguing concept, but the fact that it does handicap the better clans could just lend them to prefer contests where they can win in absolute terms? Though I now do see why the strict criteria for entrance is intended to still keep it to an equivalent field where it shouldn't affect things too significantly!
In a sense it's also a decent way to discover the most Under-rated clan in terms of the F400

I figured it was a good date after my research. It was definitely not random.

In no way shape or form did I do this to keep certain players out.

As for the MVP award: From my communications with the Head Clan Director I understood that the MVP will get a General Achievement Medal.

Is there something you're pissed off about? Or are you simply spamming the thread of a tournament your clan can't sign up for? Believe me, I had to check when your clan actually started before writing the prior sentence.

I don't know where this is coming from. I sent Bruce my idea and he said he'd share it with the CDs to see if this was something I could do.

Furthermore, I'm not concerned, why would you be? If enough clans like the concept they'll sign up. If not, it the tournament won't happen.

As for your last sentence: I'm not into clan politics and not bothered by any effects this tournament has on anything. I have no idea what "things" this tournament could "affect" and I don't care.

I thought you guys had enough topics to discuss endlessly in this forum. This one isn't up for discussion. If you like it you join, if you choose not to join, fine by me.

Yeah, no issues, was just adding some general commentary since as you say, it's unlikely we'd be able to join either :)
The 'things' was just conjecture that the entry limitation will perhaps enable handicap to not have too great an effect on the contest, yet still provide an intriguing & entertaining feature.

But yeah, best of luck!

What research led you to the date? If you did the research ahead, wouldn't you know who was eligible? It is irritating that I can't even bring this forward to my clan. By the time this starts, we'll have finished 10 clan wars and be ranked in the top 10. How is that not established? Not only that, the redundancy of the requirements is why I'm questioning. If you have been an active clan since January 1, 2001, then they would have 4 wars because you have to have that many in that time to be considered active.

This is why I ask you how you come to your criteria. Because I don't think you is the research and I think that the restrictions shouldn't have been allowed.

Well, I'm terribly sorry you feel "irritated". Fortunately I'm not running this tournament through the Tournament Department , so I don't have to answer to you.

As far as I'm concerned you have 3 options:

  1. You can join a clan that's eligible if you're so desperate to play in my tournament.
  2. You can file a complaint with the Clan Department.
  3. You can take it like a man and join the next edition.

Whatever you choose to do, stop spamming my clan tournament thread with your petty complaints.
