However the majority of the players live in other countries, it makes sense ot have a "iconic" map of Brazil. So I wouldn't be offended if the first was chosen...

This, I think, is what is going to get Rj's map the win... most users are coming in and believing "A" to be the best representation of how the world sees Brazil, and I tend to agree with them.

You are right, it is the best representation of how the world sees Brazil, it is a stereotype and therefore It would be ok to choose the first one (A) as this is a international game.
What I'm saying (in all seriousness fashion) is the second one (B) makes more sense to a Brazilian like me who lives in fourth biggest city in the world.

Get some friends to come and vote for B then? As it seems like A is pulling away.

I've got that tablet, and I'd like to hang on to it, but thanks for the offer.

Anyway, I just called Brazil - they just woke up after a long night of dancing topless in the streets, and as soon as they get back from their capoeira classes and finish their mattes they'll be logging on and voting for my map, so at this point it's just a matter of timing. (How's that for stereotypes?) And with the favelas suddenly making appearances in hollywood films these days, I'm surprised nobody jumped on that trend.

If I could do it over again, I'd do a rat pack "awful lot of coffee in brazil" themed map. Damn - if you're going to lose you have to do so in style.

You can't get cherry soda cuz they've gotta fill that quota
And the way things are I bet they never will,
They've got an awful lot of coffee in brazil!

Oh, the politician's daughter was accused of drinking water
And was fined a great big fifty dollar bill,
They put coffee in the coffee in brazil!

You meet a girl and find out later she smells like a percolator,
Her perfume was made right on the grill,
They could percolate the oceans in brazil!

edit: and done.
I'm at 285, and that should pretty guarantee that I stay there.

385/703 = .54765...

285/703 = .405405...

33/703 = .046808...

.54765 + .405405 + .046808 = .999863

If you carried Edbeard's numbers out to more decimal points, you'd end up with 1. But .999 is good enough for me to understand that it adds up to 1.

so if you round them all down, it's 98%, and if you round them all up, it's 101%. Rounding does not give you accurate results, just approximate results.

And thus concludes our math lesson for today.

which is why I don't like percents, there should be a pie graph with correct angles.

I thought you were an English teacher, not a math instructor...or are they cross training you? ;)

But really, I'm glad to see 700+ votes. I think it is safe to say that if over 1400 eyes (give or take a few pirates) have seen the Foundry in a short span like this...that must be good...even if only for a short time.

You provided them. But if you don't want the credit, I'll take it ;)

And the whole point of this is that rounding is never the answer. Carry your decimals all the way out until the end

No, no [-X leaving them as fractions is the most accurate. :ugeek:

All fractions are terminating decimals, and thus can be written as decimals with 100% accuracy. It's just a matter of going out far enough.

It ended a few hours ago.
