count me in koontz ;) it's 16 votes in favour
go for it Angela. I like your idea very much
I'll just add: our last game triples Rorke's Drift started without giving us the opportunity to see the map and take a snap
I kindly asked team 2 to give us their move - will see how they'll respond

I like this suggestions and I'm glad that you got a lot of your clan mates to come and post they like it as well. However, this is not a new idea. So, it's getting MERGED.

MERGED: Implement game state snapshots as part of the site

Unfortunately, my suggestion is not to "Make BOB part of the site."

My suggestion is for the implementation of a single function that BOB currently provides. I think a suggestion to "Make BOB part of the site" is not nearly specific enough for suggestions in this forum.

Ideally, the suggestions moderators should be encouraging and promoting the discussion of singular pieces of functionality. Doing so will make life much simpler for the admin to pick and choose which suggestions to implement, based on whatever time table and vision bigWham has. "Make BOB part of the site" provides no specific suggestions about what features are valuable nor what the benefits would be to the site and its users.

Can you please un-merge these topics?

Everything about Bob is invaluable to me, it has made the game so much better. So add me to the list, it's by far the best add-on ever!!

By the way snaps are mandatory in all team games I play..so so important for clans.

You are correct that it is better to discuss specific implementation options. I have renamed the topic accordingly.

So everyone seems to like this suggestion, and there haven't been any criticisms or concerns. What's the next step? :)

I'd like to have some input from blake on the technical issues involved in such a change.

I support this 110%
But how could someone read that snap without bob installed? Would that mean a similar feature to "take snap in chat"(like the one in BoB) get implemented officially by CC?
If so, then i support 200% :D

Yes - that is the idea: that CC would provide the mechanism for both taking and viewing snapshots.

This is still an awesome suggestion.

There is no question of its usefulness and value to CC players. The only question is one of development effort, and surely that should be judged by the admin when considering when and whether to implement it.

I also see no issue with the suggestion and the OP looks like everything is spelled out enough. I'll STICKY this.

wouldn't an automatic snapshot at the START of a game be very useful as well? No more stupid 12-hr fog rule.

It would seem like that would be relatively easy to do, right? Server just has to check whether any team members have the site BOB active and then take a snap for one of them if they do.

I agree that it's a crucial feature. Not sure of the implementation issues.

I think auto snap should be ONLY at start of the game.
Its not fair that lazy players have their asses clean every end of turn. They should have the option to snap without a 3rd party addon, but they should not have it done automatically

Have a picture of initial troop deployment available

Have the pre-first turn map available for view at any time during the game

When starting a fog game it appears it is somewhat customary for the player who goes first to wait until the opponent(s) has had a chance to view the initial troop placements and in most cases take a snapshot of the map. Sometimes this takes upwards of a day because the game is not on a players radar when he doesn't go first, especially if he is the one who initiated the game. I suggest that this information be available at any time during the game simply by clicking on a picture of what YOU or YOUR Team was able to see before the first turn of the game was taken. ,

I believe this will benefit the site because of the following:

1. It speeds up the whole process. When a player is first up in a game he/she can just take the turn. No waiting.
2. Often times, the reason that I join a game is because I feel like playing but it is not my turn in any of my current games. I want to play the game, not sit on my arse waiting all day and I suspect there are others like me. I don't want an unfair advantage over an opponent nor do I want them to have one over me and this easily solves the problem.

Obviously, the map team 1 is looking at in a fog game is different than what team 2 is looking at.

No idea

you talking about an automatic snap shot when game starts ?
think that's already been suggest somewhere

the unwritten 12 hour fog rule is mainly just a gentlemens agreement/unwritten rule for some. some clan war events its mandatory.
personally i couldn't care less all the fun of fog.

Ya .. they say search for whether it has been submitted as a suggestion ... I spent all of five seconds doing that before realizing it wasn't worth my time and that it was far better to waste someone else's time.

And yes .. an original snapshot.

I don't use BOB or take pictures or anything .. so quite frankly ... I don't think it makes sense for me to wait for an opponent so that he can utilize his unfair advantage over me. But I want to adhere to gentlemanly rules so if I think about it, I will.

I have a game going now where I moved before the guy took his snapshot. And he let me know about it. Fair enough ... don't mind him complaining to me ... and I told him what my moves were but this seems like an easy fix and doesn't waste all of our time.

Merge to the other thread if it exists I guess.
