Simplify Selection of Spoils

Simplify selection of spoils so a player can select them with a single mouse click instead of 3. Also don't allow selection of spoils that can't be redeemed.

At the start of a turn when a player has spoils that can be deployed then list each possible set as a single entry instead of individual spoils. The player then selects the set with a single mouse click. Non-playable spoils are listed for reference but cannot be selected. If a player has 5 spoils but only 1 set then auto-select it. Use radio buttons instead of selection boxes so only 1 can be selected at a time

Benefits:
  • Player can see entire set(s)
  • reduce mouse clicks and potential for human error
  • reduce clutter by not showing non-playable spoils
  • if there are multiple sets then player can sample each set one at a time to visually see which territories on the map they affect

Disadvantage:
  • A spoil that can be used in multiple sets will be displayed more then once. Could be confusing
  • potential for a lot of sets especially if a player has 9 spoils. This would happen if a player with 4 spoils eliminates a player with 5 spoils Worst case scenario would be 30 possible sets. SOLUTION - If there are more then 5 possible sets then just revert back to the old method to pick each spoil individually.

Example #1
A player has 5 spoils - R1 R2 R3 B1 B2. At the start of the turn they would be listed as
  • R1 R2 R3
Since B1 B2 can't be used they are shown but cannot be selected. Since the player must turn in this set it is preselected.

Example #2
A player has 5 spoils - R1 R2 R3 B1 G1. They are shown as 4 possible sets
  • R1 R2 R3
  • R1 B1 G1
  • R2 B1 G1
  • R3 B1 G1

so if i have 5 spoils and cash 3 which nukes 3 players out of the game, each of whom had 5 spoils, i would have 17 spoils.

i could then cash another 3 which nukes 3 more players out of the game, each of whom had 5 spoils. now i would have 29 spoils.

are you suggesting CC should list each and every combo ?

stop being lazy and select the spoils yourself.

I'm not sure I understand the facility of this. Should I presume you're a speed freestyler? Because other than that, I don't see the point.

Even in speed freestyle, it must be confusing to have to scroll through all the set combinations to figure out which one is the one you wanted.

@ fan of NewYork's other crappy team

not at all, especially if you want to turn the indicators on. Go learn to write grease monkey scripts if you want this, as it isn't worth the programmer's time, IMHO.

No. If there are more then 5 sets then revert back to the old method of selecting each card individually.

It is not laziness if there is an easier way of doing things. Or in other words: computers should work - people should think.

Why does the server list a spoil when it can't be redeemed? If there is only 1 set available then list just those 3 spoils.
