2 easy to implement suggestions to enhance gameplay

(1) in both the My Games list and in the actual game window, put an icon to signify which players are logged into CC at that time. That way we have an idea who might be ready to go so we aren't sitting and refreshing the window constantly.
(2) Institute "TURBO" games as an option: players have 8 hrs (maybe even less) to take their turn. You could add a "REALTIME" option where players have 1 hr to complete your turn and the game starts when full. There is no time between turns: when player A's turn ends (whether he took 15 mins or the whole hr), player B's turn begins and his timer starts ticking.

How the hell are you supposed to play an 8 hour per go game? - take loads of speed and stay up for a week?

The option for different time limits is in the works. I don't know if it will be 1 hour for each player or a forced real time like you suggested but lack said he's working on it for a coming update.

I kinda like the idea. That would possibly cut down on the people who stop playing games because they don't like their starting positions.

8 hr perod in which to start your turn after which the turn itself lasts only 1 hr. Just talking about narrowing the window from 24 hrs to take a turn to 8. Either 8 or 12 since many people here are on different time zones.

i dont think it would work with an 8 hour turn. either 1 hour for real time games or 24 for regular.

what about allowing the length between/of turns being a game option
1hr - 2hr - 4hr - 8hr - 12hr - 24hr
but then have a pause button (implemented by any player, but maximum 24 hour pause) to stop play over night or all weekend or for a vacation?
and a restore button (all players must click back in within an hour) to restart the game
