Something to consider...

A variant often played in my kitchen was to make card trade-ins vary according to this series:

4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 25, 20, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 6, etc.

Variety is the spice of life. Made for a different dynamic.

We used to go up to fifty, then start over at four.....lol

We would have some massive wars with people trying to get into position to have the turn in at fifty....
