Email notification upon your next turn

I propose email notification when your next turn is up!

So, admittedly, some of us have lives. Sometimes I do too, and I can't be bothered to check "My Games" every minute waiting for the turn to unfold (although, let's be honest, I do anyway). But, as I sit here NOT writing a paper about Xenopus oocyte microtubules, I think, wouldn't it be nice if I could get an email telling me when my next turn can be taken, that would be fantastic. Personally, I have my computer rigged so that certain emails get forwarded to my phone so I know when I get important and timely emails, such as for work or the like. I would love to do this with CC, so I can excuse myself from class or pause working to go online for five minutes.

Some options:

1. Optional. Duh.
2. Don't email when logged into the site. This is obvious. Why clog your inbox when you're already there?
3. Premium only? I say this because, although I do not have a premium account, it might be a good idea. If this was implemented, I'd purchase a pay account right away. Plus, it would HEAVILY tone down the volume of emails sent, because that could get large. Then again, it's not that difficult to set up, plenty of non-profit webboards larger than this pull it off. Besides, we already have that for the forum, which has to be a ton of emails. After all, there are 110939 articles as of posting this (this makes 110940).

Personally, I rate this a priority of 3, but, hey, I don't do the work!

I love this idea! But I have to disagree with only having it for Premium members. Lackattack would save a whole lot of money on bandwidth if people wouldn't have to keep refreshing the site every minute to see when their turn is happening. An email notification would make everyone's lives easier.

Yes, I know there is a Turn Notifier Script for this, but some players (like me) don't want to download a bagillion different scripts for the game. This would make everyone's lives easier.

It has been suggested before, and currently the Notifier or the RSS feeds are the best options.

I'd still like email notification on turns - however does MAC OS9 have any RSS readers. I use the notifier on my PC but Quick News on my Palm to keep track of games.

Would people be interested in receiving an SMS when it's your turn in an important game?

I'd prefer an email notification working in this way (watched) - an SMS one, not so sure.

I think email notification would be preferable because it gives you the option. Most people these days have (or should have) aggregate clients which they collect their mail into and which checks for new mail at a regular interval (mine is every minute).

If you want an email, then the site can email you. If you want an sms, you can set up a rule to forward that email to your phone, which will serve as the same thing.

Then again, in my position, I'd skip right to the sms because it's how I want to use it. So, yeah, I'd totally dig sms notification if we're not logged in.
