going for the bonus.

Postby Gweeedo on Wed Nov 20, 2013 4:47 pm

I was in a game and my drop was too good to be true.
Classic map, I go first.
If I get my opponent out of the one spot he controls in Europe, I will collect a bonus (thereby controlling all of Europe).

I eliminated my enemy from Europe.
Of course he counter attacked and negated any bonus that I would collect.

He had a better (dice) fighting force than I.

Games end (he won), he stated that I wanted too much too early?
What is the down side of me attacking my opponent and going for the bonus, on first turn.
Auto deploy, no real bonus for anybody else across the board.

I simply do not understand his logic.
Does Greed (taking full advantage of a good drop) put bad juju on me dice...what is it he was talking about.

you played bad if you over attacked, how many troops did you have on your territories after your first turn?

I attacked first (and only) target, at turns end I had 5 units on target hex and 3 on every other hex on the board except one.

Of course he was making a 7v5 attacks and winning while losing zero.
I suppose he simply would not believe that he had the dice in that game.

I had position...but no dice.

In 1vs1 (in normal maps like classic) I always attack opponent first to reduce his regions. And if I have an chance to control a bonus, where I have to attack neutral, I'll add 1 troop on 1 or 2 regions bordering this neutral but not the opponent, and try my luck with 4vs3.

for example in Game 13623244 I would drop 1 troop in Berlin to attack London and 3 in other region to attack opponent. If I failed to take London in 1st round, I would try in 2nd round from Stockholm.
