Rule Change

Postby bird45 on Wed Apr 09, 2014 7:35 pm

Any way to get the dead beat rule changed to missing 3 turns in a game? Playing game now #14225871 new player has missed 4 out of 6 rds played. Seems to me if you miss 3 turns in a game you should be gone.

Hi bird, there have been tons of suggestions to this effect. In short, it isn't likely to change, I'm sorry.

In long, go give it your best shot and add to the discussion:

This rule would be especially bothersome in a long lasting game. You're into Round 90, and a player has just missed his third turn out of ninety... would be ridiculous to kick that person out, especially if the rounds missed were 13, 57 and 90, don't you think?

Bollocks.

Or even longer games. I agree, Serbia. There are games on here that have lasted more than a thousand rounds. The site could implement some kind of percentage or something, but the "miss three turns in a row" rule seems to be simplest.

It'd sort of be interesting if you could have these alternate deadbeat rules, if you included the Round Limits on your game. So Round limits of 20, if you miss 3 turns, regardless of whether they are consecutive, the player is out. But if you are playing no round limits or higher round limits, standard rules apply, etc.

Likely would be confusing to have multiple rule sets, but fun to think about anyways.

This is one scenario in which complicated rules for different games is probably not a bad thing. Since missing turns is presumably not something someone does intentionally, you shouldn't need to try to figure out whether you're going to lose the next time you miss a turn.
