The Values of Conquer Stars

Postby TheFlashPoint on Thu Aug 21, 2014 9:50 am

Assigning a real world value for a Conquer Star is a strange exercise. Stars represent a combination of Conquer Club (CC) activity, community participation, and player skill. Meanwhile, amazon dollars represent goods. The two systems don't match up outside of a marketing analyst's coked up wet dream.

Luckily, CC provides a concrete conversion among and between the two currencies in the form of auto tournaments, the conquer cup, and conquer god sacrifices.

Below are some preliminary conversion tables based only on current Quest for the Star prize pools. Note that Quest for the Star entry fees have undergone huge inflation since their inception. Also, other autotournaments provide significantly more value (e.g. Quickfires and Elite Rankers tourneys).

In terms of Auburn and Drab Stars:
Red: 1,467,967 A + 1,104,204 D
Green: 183,496 A + 138,026 D
Blue: 33,818 A + 25,438 D
Yellow: 11,038 A + 8,303 D
Pink: 3,758 A + 2,826 D
Cyan: 458 A + 345 D
Orange: 129 A + 97 D
Silver: 17 A + 13 D
Violet: 9 A + 6 D
Electric Green: 2.4 A + 2.4 D

CC values 8 Red stars at $600. There is no tournament conversion between Auburn and Drab stars, but the earliest autotournaments seemed to value each star at double the previous star. Although most Quest for the Star tourney entry fees have increased (and the corresponding prize pools decreased), the Conquer Gods' sacrificial tool seems to return at least one Auburn for every two Drab.

Assuming one Auburn = two Drab, below are the amazon dollar values of each star:

Red: $75.00
Green: $9.37
Blue: $1.73
Yellow: $0.56
Pink: $0.19
Cyan: $0.02
Orange: 3 = 2 cents
Silver: 11 = 1 cent
Violet: 22 = 1 cent
Electric Green: 74 = 1 cent
Auburn: 269 = 1 cent
Drab: 539 = 1 cent

I will be editing this post over time with more precise conversion rates.

Your "concrete conversion" between amazon coins and conquer stars is "complete conjecture based on the earliest autotourney prizes"?

What's your equation for converting Stars into amazon dollars/coins?

I'd assume he did the rough calculation based on the Star Goal tournament(s).

Since the Star Goal tournaments offer a $500 Amazon certificate for first prize and a $100 Amazon certificate for second prize, that's $600 Amazon dollars in prizes.

It costs 1 Red Star to enter, and there's only 8 seats in the tournament, so 1 Red Star gives you a 2/8 chance of winning $600. (2/8)*600=75. That's what it looks like he did, anyway.

I wasn't sure if the distributive property can validly be applied to probabilities, so just as a check I went and did it. 1/8 chance at first prize plus 1/8 chance at second prize. (1/8*500+1/8*100)=$75, so yes, answer remains valid.

They're extremely valuable and easy to come by--and come on. AoG's rubles have been jealous though.

Dukasaur got it. CC's quest for the stars - Goal tourney has a 600 dollar prize pool and total entry fees of 8 Red stars. So CC values each Red star at $600/8.

The values of each star relative to Auburns and Drabs come by performing the same operation on Quest for the star tourney fees vs prize pools and making the appropriate substitutions. For example, Quest for the stars Electric Green has a prize pool of 33 Electric Green stars and total entry fees of 80 Auburns and 80 Drabs. So CC pays 1 Electric Green star for every 80/33 Auburns + 80/33 Drabs.

Id love to know the algorithm for Conquer Gods sacrifices. The community would be well served with this information as well.
