Just noticed the banner is gone (for the first time in 4 years!)
Did the volunteers at CC lose the great war to the eastern block?

Probably endedcuz it’s past Veterans Day 2018, and was supposed to be a 2014-2018 event. So probably ongoing but no longer locked on the banner

The event was originally scheduled to end on Nov 11 2018, and so on Nov 11 2018 it dutifully disappeared from your Central Command page. That's the nature of these automated scoreboards, they just do what the original programming said. It can be reactivated once there's a reason to do so.
The event is incomplete. There's lots left to do, but I just ran out of steam. Quite frankly, both my Great War mania and my Conquer Club mania are at a low ebb. Part of that has to do with my real life, which has gotten busier.
Part of it is that the event itself never generated the feedback that I hoped to. These tournaments weren't meant to be just tournaments, they were meant to stimulate thought and discussion about the Great War itself, an event that changed our civilization forever. I've had a lot of feedback in terms of the Conquer Club side of it, people talking about the tournaments and stuff, but I've never seen anyone post something like "Don't you think that Suvla Bay could have turned into a decisive battle if someone like Rawlinson was in command instead of Stopford?" or "Was the Royal Navy at Jutland still largely shaped by the Byng affair 160 years earlier?" That was the kind of debate I really craved, and in four years of plugging along with the event it never happened, not even once.
Discussions are under way about how to wrap up this event. We're not going to let it just go into the night, but at this point I don't want to say too much because I don't want to raise false expectations. I think at last reckoning there were something like 114 Great War battles that had not yet been written into tournaments. It's a pretty daunting task, and I don't think we'll do the full 114, but we will do some of them. Maybe a smaller number of larger tournaments. Not sure yet, but something will be done. Too much has been done to let the whole body of work just vanish.

And perhaps it could end with its own League of Some of the Nations.
Woodrow Wilson being a big believer in the brotherhood of man (at least those of european descent) and the dignity of all (well white guys anyway) men.
But sincerely, Duk, congrats all the work. Sorry, that era was not my cup of tea for historical reading, and then I was more interested in the geopolitical side of things than I was in the military battles.

Hear Hear

Many thanks for a great tourney and all the hard work that went into it. It was really interesting and greatly appreciated. I personally would like it to continue but understand if it's run out of steam. Would be good to end it with some kind of celebration though
