I tracked another players troops in a hidden troop game and told the third fellow about those troops.
I know it was uns sportmans like. But I and the other guy I broadcaster to in the open were cooks.
The one I gave info about was diamond rank.

Unsportsmanlike, but not against the rules. Blue is wrong.

Why is it even unsportsmanlike? If two players are working together they can share info about troop placements surely.

You can sure. That’s what I said you CAN do it within the rules. There will be a segment of the site that very much doesn’t like it and feels it’s unsportsmanlike to do it in a fog game. It’s sometbing that causes lot of arguments foes and ratings stuff. You might not care about that (and it’s fine), but just answering the question for him.

Some people think it4s unsportmanlike, some find it is ok.
Depends who you are playing.
I personally think it's 100% ok.

The whole fun of fog of war is lying about your opponents' strength in order to pit them against each other.

I don't understand why that would be considered unsportsmanlike at all. I am sure someone somewhere has a reason.

Simple. By doing that you're just bypassing the fog of war by letting others know about stuff they shouldn't see. If you want everyone to see the whole board you can play sunny games. I personnally am fine with people being vague about troops (saying player X has twice as many troops as you, a 3-digit stack, ...) but saying the exact numbers is in poor taste imo.

The purpose of having fog of war (in any game) is just to create uncertainty and limit the information people have about their opponents. Even if one player sits in game chat listing off an opponent's troop numbers and positions, the uncertainty and lack of clarity is still there. Apart from anything else that player might be lying.

Surely that's what a world power would do in real life if they needed to. Doesn't mean that they aren't lying, just adds another element to the game imo.

Well here is the [Official] purpose statement on Fog of War:
Fog Of War
According to Wikipedia, the fog of war is a term used to describe the level of ambiguity in situational awareness experienced by participants in military operations. Now you can turn up the ambiguity in your Conquer Club games with this radical new game option! The fog of war masks enemy positions that are not adjacent to your forces (or your team's forces). It also masks territory and continent names in the log. Originally suggested by seraphesy back in Jan 2006. Enjoy!
It's just about levels of ambiguity, there is no "should" or "should not". Just like in a war, people use any means necessary to find out information about the opponents we do the same thing here. Chat is one method, but hacking another person's account, bribing their wife to track troops, breaking into their house to browse their computer (while taking nothing but the "H" out of the bathroom faucet) are all legit methods.
By the way, I dug up
the suggestion for everyone. Seraphesy is a legend on this site because he had a suggestion implemented after only 2 posts (Lack put it on his to-do list, but it took 15 months). It's also one of the most popular suggestions (2-player games is slightly more popular). Also, seraphesy was the very first multi-bust on the site.

Back when Suggestions was a subforum for ideas that people wanted to get implemented, and not just a waste paper bin.

You're welcome for the 2 player game option ;o)
Sure, it's not illegal. IMO, however, its a crap move. But I think alliances in singles games are a crap move too. Opinions / assholes.....lol.
Any player that engages in these activities goes on my foe list as I dont wish to play them. But they, I am sure, do not wish to play me either as I would be a bastard to them
In explanation, I believe a singles game should be played as such. Aren't winning? Shit happens. Wanna team up? Play team games. Don't want hidden troops? Don't play fog.
This is the caveat behind our xigames group and has been for over 15 years, so at least we can play with those of like minds ;o)
Carry on.....

Did Brian TELL YOU that this thread is what prompted him to make the singles game option, Yosh? Did he also tell you about the PMs we had been trading??
Please....enlighten me, oh wise one.

No, I never trust turtles anyway.
There is a medal for having implemented suggestions. If it was your doing, I suggest getting your medal. That is the single most popular suggestion on this site.

I don't care about a medal. I bugged Brian incessantly and it was discussed at length and implemented. I know I suggested it to him first as he had never considered it before. Probly this thread and public vote that did it tho....just always took credit

Believe it or not that thread has been on this site longer than you have. I don't mean to harsh your buzz, I'm just trying to figure out what is happening.

Weird, I read it as Jan 22nd.
I think I've spend too much time lurking the forums, I'm starting to crack up.
