Are there a valid reason for the formula to be secret?

I think the official reason is that if you don't know what the formula is then you can't manipulate it.

Personally, I've always disagreed with that logic. It just means that once a few nerds have figured it out, and they then have an advantage over the vast majority of us.

Good luck figuring it out. The basic premise is pretty clear though.
