When in a team game and I untick teamchat box so that all can see, sometimes the message doesn't appear at all in the log, is that a bug or am I doing something wrong?

You can't send the same message twice. So if you accidentally say something in team chat that was meant for all, you need to change the sentence by adding a period or something to the end.
