Okay, so the Top 40 players on the site were invited to play me, on map and settings with 50/50 outcome likely. Those who have invites disabled got a wall post inviting them to communicate with me.

(Note: actual number of players in this series was 51, as one player dropped off the scoreboard and another was promoted during the process.)

Yesterday I started a new experiment that I have wanted to try for years but never got around to.

On map and settings of my choosing, inviting everyone on the site, starting from the top of the the scoreboard.

So far the top 6 have turned me down. MC's invitation hasn't expired yet. Invited a bunch more just now, down to #16 on the list.

I totally get that the scoring system makes it unappetizing for high-ranked players to play low-ranked players on (relatively) even turf. Still, I'm curious how far down I have to go before someone accepts my invite. Will keep you posted.

Well yeah, they didn't get all those points by playing people on an even playing field. They got them playing endless 1v1s on their favourite beta map.

That's not necessarily true. The current conquerer got there by playing one map and foeing anyone that can beat him, but some of the other guys are genuinely good. His natural rank is probably a major.

I've played with/against some of them at the top of the board, and I can't fault their skill. I doubt many play 1v1 since it's more luck based. I play polymorphic to mitigate some of that myself. Less chance of one colour holding big bonuses on round 1 if each player has 2-4 colours. I've no interest in playing for the top of the scoreboard though since I really don't have the attention span. lol.

Some probably play with lower ranked teammates as well so they can get more points though.

Anyway, as of this last night, Ark_Angel was the only player in the Top 20 who accepted my invite. All others either declined or let their invites.

Special note needs to be made that the Top 20 changed this morning. Tec805 has dropped off the scoreboard (still has a score of over 4000 so presumably he hasn't played in 30 days) and loutil bumped up from 21 to 20. So loutil wasn't included in the Top 20 that were invited. Will be included in the next batch as I go to Top 30.

Only 9 of 11, because two of the players, TheSpaceCowboy and Pershing, have invitations disabled.

Could be people don’t like that map? lol just beat your trips game in it mate…think you are pushing your agenda…I would be okay to play ya but that’s a crappy map imo so not a point thing but a bad not fun map choice thing

May not be the best map ever, but it's certainly the best of the current crop of Beta maps.

I agree lots of people will overlook less ranked due to points…I gave you an opportunity to play and you said only on a specific beta map???? That seems problematic to me.

No, it's the exact opposite. Das is a brutally complex map that only a few specialists can wrap their head around. Pretty much the definition of a farming map. Slovakia is a nice simple map that almost anyone except a raw recruit should be able to understand. It has a couple tricky connections, but anyone who's a major on this site will have no trouble understanding them. Pretty much the opposite of a farming map.

It's going to get increasingly difficult to keep track of people who pass in and out of their position. Just since yesterday I see two people who are in a different batch than they were.

Received my invite today, 1v1 Slovakia fr (on 1v1, not the best choice but alas) fog trench. I'm not that well connected in the lower echelons of CC rank, but I think those too dont like the settings. Will have a much higher accept rate for sure, but we all know that the scoreboard is flawed and that getting to a 3000+ rank is nigh impossible if you play 1v1 (except for Hive)

Quad cities, Malta, Iceland, Iberia... basically most of the "new recruit" maps that dont look (imo) terrible. Down for all settings otherwise except for zombie, your choice.

You can count me in mate. I'm not on the scoreboard though because I haven't played a game in a while, just dropped by the site today and saw this thread and am feeling left out! Shouldn't be too hard though because I earned my rank playing freestyle and spending 24/7 on CC...

, do not even remember the last time I played a 1 v 1 game. 90%+ of my games are clan games. Other than games I am invited to or clan try-out games, I almost never play anything other than clan or tribe games.

I'm hunting for my Beta medal, but I rarely turn down an invite as long as it's reasonable. By all means send one.

I'll play any setting except Freestyle and any map with fewer than 120 terts.

Poly is okay but please be kind and keep it Poly 2 or 3. Poly 4 is just a little too confusing.

Sent, poly3 is is. If you dont want random perhaps poly2 is better for the map, but otherwise I'm down for anything you send my way as well. I feel kinda naughty for sending you an invite on my settings even it's random map.

Cant believe youre getting bites. I once went after the top 100 offering to play them on their own map. I only had about 4 or 5 takers.
