Every mod has a different way they balance their games. Its hard to create a definitive rule for balancing when every mod has a different definition on what "balanced" is. I would say just make a setup that looks balanced to you and then have a more experienced mod look over it for you. They will point out any issues that it has.
I probably won't play (for the reason below), but I would be happy to help you balance it. I know the basic storyline to the game and most of the characters so I'm not a complete stranger.Victor Sullivan wrote:Yes! I love VII and VIII! (VIII being my favorite)

I downloaded FFVII through the PSN (before the whole hacking fiasco) and I have not been able to get into it. I play a lot of rpgs and strategy games, but this one is just too slow for me. Plus the interface is completely backward from what I'm used to.

It's a PS1 game, can't you get an emulator?
rodion wrote:About the balance, simple initial questions.
1 - If it's a simply town/mafia game, I should be aiming at 50/50 odds, right?
2 - If it's a more complicated town/mafia/cult or town/mafia1/mafia2 game, should I be aiming at 33/33/33 odds?
3 - What happens if I add a SK? Being a loner usually means you'll have smaller winning odds than an actual "faction"? Would that be acceptable?
edocsil wrote:Holly Shit? 50 50 ? Only in a Fircoal game. In a game 0f 11 I would have 3 scum 17 would be 4 scum and a sk for me. Also depends on the number of cops and the power of roles.

Rodion wrote:I've been thinking about the idea. I already designed the mechanics of 4 characters.
How do you people prefer to make the setup?
1 - Establish the characters and open the thread with a determined ammount of spots/roles?
2 - See how many people are interested and then create the characters based on demand?

I'd rather talk about balance to someone that doesn't intend to play (perhaps Squirrel), otherwise I'd be losing a player.

That's fine if for example, it's like 13 or 17 players for the setup and you see how many people sign up. Putting an openended number of players and trying to rebalance isn't usually a good idea.
