Are we turning into mafia scum?

A worrying trend in recent games is the length of period it is taking to get a lynch in games. More and more games are going without deadlines and this is resulting in very long days where fatigue is beginning to kick in. The result is to get a lynch random bandwagons take place. The long days are most noticable in jnds game, heroes, nv5 and seinfeld. So my suggestion to all is to get posting and arguing/looking for scum tells

before we become like mafia scum!

No lynch is worse than no deadline.

Small games seem to solve that problem.

B.S.
The games you mentioned are all still in day 1 or 2. Of course it's hard to find a good lead at that point. The pace will most likely pick up soon enough for all of them.
It sounds to me like you prefer a quick random lynch over a long but argumented discussion. If you want to play games like that, find a RT-game to join.

Discussion doesn't need to take a whole week, I remember the days when a group of us could knock off 20 pages in one night of proper reasoned discussion. So please read my actual post before throwing accusations like that.

Well from what I recall the MS games are long because anyone talks at most once every two days, it's not the case here. I like long days at the beginning, so I agree with SL that I don't really see the problem as long as there's activity. I'm more worried about other games that suffer lack of activity in latter days or only random wagons *cough*R&J*cough*

Common sense appears to be somewhat rare on these forums.

Ehh, that's a different problem altogether then. People are busier than in the previous months I think

I almost always set deadlines (though they're usually somewhat flexible based on my activity).

Personally, when I mod my game, that's why I will put deadlines in it. No deadlines means a lot of people are sitting back to see what happens, since there's no pressure to act.

All I can say is that I think a large reason why that is happening is because most games are too large.
The more people, the more time it takes to lynch... Especially when so many of the players are new.
Smaller games always go faster.

I think the games are getting too complicated personally. There are so many complicated roles now, it's impossible to learn anything even when you do have info. Nag's current game is a perfect example of this. Hard to get anywhere when ya have nothing to go off of and it's too complicated to figure out. That's personally why I haven't been as talkative. I'm going to start to ask mods now how complicated games will be. Mafia games should be fun and an easy way to relax, not require as much brain power as my daily job. At least that's what I am looking for in games. For some reason game mods try to make things as complicated as possible, it's like one of Dim's maps....they're fine every now and then, but occassionally I just want to play Doodle Earth!

also Nag, it's not always about no deadline especially with NV5. All of my games have run fine without a deadline except Pokemon Mafia. I think more of the problem there is a the business of the players and me being less active. From what I've seen, if I'm not here oftenly for a few games, my game's activity is bad.

I think we need to make it so that we have a lot of small games and a couple big and complicated games. Remember back in the day where sherwood mafia was a hugly complex game where no one knew what was going on and we spent half the game tryng to figure out how the peasents fit into everything? Now adays all games are like that. I miss the simplicity of small 11-15 player games. My next game after CC mafia is only gonna be for like 11 people. It will be fun and have twist but It wont be overly complicated.

Apologies for that wicked. I agree with you about games being too experimental and I'm partly to blame for that. A lot of the CC new maps I haven't bothered to learn how to play because they seem too complicated and over complicated mafia games are creating un-necessary stress in which is meant to be a fun game. My next game will probably be much more simpler to understand whats going on

Hmm I partly agree with Wicked, I like twisted games (besides my favorite mods only do them these days

) but it seems everyone is making weirder and weirder setups lately.
