I think you should wait until the community trusts you as a player before you attempt to get them thinking your a good mod.

drake is a pretty good player already. I don't think you need to have played mafia for months to mod one. Play for a month and mod one, you'll make a few mistakes, play for 6 months and mod one, you'll make a few mistakes.

Good advice. Your really good, so I would trust you. I made mistakes on my first mod after playing for more than a year! Go straight for it! If you want a co-mod, I'm sure someone would be willing to help!

what does a co-mod actually do?

They help the mod. They help balance the game, and help with the vote counts, normally. A co-mod takes over if for some reason the mod has left.

so if you know you are guaranteed to stay then you wont need a co-mod?

Well, if you are doing an original setup you may want someone to check for balance.

I co modded my first game with Clive. The one thing I would suggest you is to triple check your vote count are correct. It is awful if they are wrong, especially if a player gets lynched and the role reveiled when they should not actually be dead

Drake, I don't mind looking at your setup and helping you balance it if you want. I have considerable experience in modding mafia games here, more than anyone else who has posted in this thread.. so drop me a buzz and I'll have a look at it if you want.

16 players, should have about 4.
So, roughly 1:4 people.

Remember it depends on the game. Largely on the amount of killing roles. Just simply look at the c-9-if you just turn a townie into an sk, day 1-the town lynches a pro-town person, mafia and nk off a person each-its down to 4 men already, with mafia having half the votes.

Well if you want my honest opinion, I think we need more players and less mods. I'm not saying never try modding, but at the moment, we don't need mods. If I can't stop you, then go ahead, I might be a little negative.

Every mod is a player, though... So more games equals more players... The mod ratio to player ratio doesn't really matter.
