Map Name: Skyrim
Mapmaker(s): Edjenoh
Number of Territories: 59
Special Features: High Hrothgar is only accessible via Ivarstead, like in the real game
What Makes This Map Worthy of Being Made: It's a new addition along with the Tamriel map

It's not the most pretty of maps, but I did my best to make it easy to read by using good color-coding and establishing where water can be crossed.

I've created the xml for this thing too. Can this map move forward?

Nice, but we can't have an explicitly Skyrim map due to copyright issues.

Look at the existing maps 'Dawn of Ages' and 'Midgard'. Both have parallels with a Lord of the Rings theme, but aren't specifically connected to it.

Also, the map image is huge! You could scale it down greatly.

Good to see new interest in the foundry, anyway.

Not necessarily, we already have the Tamriel map of which Skyrim is a part.

@ edjenoh: Nice start for the map although doing the xml for it is possibly a little premature given the gameplay and graphics are likely to change significantly before this reaches final forge. (as is the case with most first drafts). MB is right however in that copyright will be the first and biggest thing you have to overcome. There is no point putting work into this map if it cannot be used for legal reasons. As a result, before you do anything else you need to look into the copyright.

Here's the thread for the original Tamriel map: viewtopic.php?t=1129
It looks like it was done very early on in CC and apparently they've never asked for copyright so sadly that's no help. Unfortunately all maps need permission from the copyright holder nowadays so you will need to get hold of that before you do any more.

I believe the developer of the Discworld map got permission from the copyright holder. I'm just saying.

Does the Tamriel map predate the release of Morrowind? Somehow, I can't see Bethesda Softworks okaying it now that their games have become mainstream, but that's just me.

Nope, it was released May 06, about two months after oblivion.

edjenoh, welcome to the foundry. Sorry that it has been a while since I have looked in the ideas forum so forgive me for the wait.

First of, you need to read this. That alone will tell you how we all make maps. But first some thoughts.

Is the map copyrighted as others have pointed out?
What programme are you using?

I'll see if I can contact bethesda and ask for copyright permission.

I just MS Paint to create this map
Is that a problem? I don't mind the map not being the prettiest out there, I just thought it would be a fun addition to the maps out there.
Also I've seen uglier and more ambiguous maps out there that are currently playable..

MS paint will not work. You will need to use GIMP or photoshop.

As for uglier, where as I do not think this site allows ugly. Surprised they let me on here with their high standards of beauty.

Yep, easy to download and to use when you have time to practise on it. As for your draft, remember, it can only be 840/800 in size.
