This is a map I worked on some time, but the only problem is that I have no time nor the knowlege to complete it.
Hereby seeking people to finished it. If you want information on it (such as terretories names) mail me at onbekende_07@hotmail.com

The map is off Vlaanderen, or Flanders for the English speaking people.
If you know Belgium, this is the North of it, the Dutch-speaking side of Begium

---First off Curious George wants to know what this is a map of?

---And right off the bat I see almost too much linearity in this idea. It rather feels like the Indochina map on its side. It'd be helpful to know what the map is of, details about the location (so if exspansion is needed), if it is actually of something.

West-Vlaanderen==>Brugge, Tielt, Roeselare, Kortrijk, Ieper, Diksmuide, Veurne, Oostende, Torhout
Oost-Vlaanderen==>Lokeren, Sint-Niklaas, Buggenhout, Aalst, Geraardsbergen, Zottegem, Oudenaarde, Gent, Aalter, Eeklo
Antwerpen======>Kapellen, Brecht, Turnhout, Mol, Westerlo, Lier, Mechelen, Antwerpen, Herentals
Vlaams-Brabant==>Lommel, Bree, Genk, Voeren, Tongeren, Sint-Truiden, Hasselt
Limburg =======>Dilbeek, Wemmel, Brussel, Halle, Leuven, Tienen, Aarschot

Is also a bridge coming between Antwerpen <=> Sint-Niklaas and Antwerpen <=> Buggenhout

If there is something not visible, say it.

A few names aren't so visible, but I think the layout of the continents should be looked into. By the looks of it the contintental areas are actual politcal regions, but I'm not so sure that these work well for continents. As I mentioned ealier it is very linear. Blue-->Cream-->Purple-->Both Greens.

---Perhaps if you strayed away from the politcal boundaries that would limit this map a lot less, and make it more functional and playable.

That is were you guys come in, give some suggestion and I will change it to it, even the countries.

By your first post it seemed to suggest that you were giving up on this map, and looking for someone else to head it. Are you going to stick it out and work on it? Or are you still searching for somone to complete the work.

Alright, why make a map of such a small dull area though?

That was later added in an edit ;), but it was stated also after the first post.

And I'm afraid I'm inclined to agree with spiesr. As I stated in the CCU topic, maps seem to need more and more uniqueness to get much of a Foundry backing, and location for the most part doesn't seem to be cutting it. Everyone's got to realize not all ideas will be made into maps, or should be made into maps for whatever reasons.

Look for some creativity with this map, a little of that can go a long way.

just uh....throwing this out there, but i noticed that w@w has a flanders map. Someone might want to check it out so we dont run into any issues, legal or otherwise.

I disagree that every new map needs to have some sort of revolutionary new feature to it. I want to play more maps of more places, even if they don't have a new feature to it. If someone makes a good looking map of say - the Caribbean, as long as it looks good and is just as fun to play as any of our other maps, than I want to play it.

New fun features are cool too, but not always something I want. I want don't want to always have to deal with goofy things everytime I test out a new map. The new stuff is fun too, and is always good to keep everything fresh, but I think by no means does every new map need to be incredibly innovative. I'd venture to say that can get a little uninteresting sometimes if every map has its own weird quirks that we all have to keep track of.

As long as the map is different from the WaW's, it could be used. But if this idea should be purused anymore, that's another question.

And I didn't say every new map needs some feature, I just said that for some areas, location alone cannot carry a map, like it previously could. ;)

This map really has a linearity problem... Maybe a map of the whole Belgium could be more interesting.

I suppose, but I don't think a map of Flanders would have ever been able to gather to much excitement based on location itself. :P (no offense to any flandereseses out there)

I will look in a map off Belgium

And for w@w, I don't even know its www, so the map isn't of it

Just wanted to chime in on the "location alone can be enough novelty for a new map" brigade. Though of course that doesn't mean it will necessarily be enough...if the intrinsic interest of a location can't do it itself, or if the graphics quality alone can't carry it, then it does become a question...but I'm still staunchly of the school that we need maps of every inch of this planet on various levels until the site has 8 million maps, and that those willing to put time and effort into making a quality map out of anything need to be encouraged...may be alone at this end of the spectrum.
