Is there some info left out of the map.... it seems that in USA Apocalypse (Great Map by the way) that an explanation was left out......according to the legends... Radiation zones...give negatives when you have 1 or 2 - nothing for holding 3 and positives for more than 3....
WHAT then is Holding "a radiation nexus" and as far as i can figure out... it means holding 2 of the radiated zones....which gives you a +1.... i had to check the xml on that one but it is definitely not explained in the map and could have strategical differences when playing the game..... am I wrong?

It's just the naming for the bonus...
"a radiation Nexus" is positive bonus...
and "irradiated territoy" is negative bonus...
C.
Yeah

I know... But it is still not described in any way on the map.....Maybe an updated map?....or Revamp ... but it really isn't that bad so maybe just some info added to a corner or something

the map was kept a simple as possible, at the time of making (and possible even know) it was impossible to code in the bonusses via radioactive markers via 1 XML code, so 2 where used

Thats not what i mean.... Apparently the code is fine but the map doesn't explain the bonuses completely..... all it really needs is another info box (there is plenty of room) that explains "Radiation nexus" and "irradiated territory"
It could fit to the right of the Triangle Radiation Legend and cover Mexico since that is not part of gameplay anyway

It's just a trick they put in there so people with 2 or 1 nexus both get the -1. They probably were forced to name it differently because of the XML at that time. I'm not sure it's really a big deal. You get the same bonus according to the legend. But, it would probably only take someone with the desire to make the change 10 minutes to update the XML with the new capabilities.

no that is not how it works... example-
Keredrex receives 5 armies for holding Voodoo Bayou
Keredrex receives -2 armies for holding irradiated territory
... i had illinois & georgia...which by the legend means -1 for 1 and -1 for 2 ...do the math -1, -1 = -2 ...so far its fine then....
Keredrex receives 1 armies for holding a radiation nexus
... according to the xml that i checked you get +1 for having 2 irradiated territories... where on the map does it say this??
the only reason i bring it up is when you are playing a game and you calculate what an enemy gets after you go ... THIS MISSING INFO obviously changes what the opponent would get and you would never know cause the explanation is not there .... assuming of course he had 2 irradiated territs.....
if i was trying to stop him (lets say he has 12 terits.... NO continent bonus.... but he has 2 irradiated zones....
I would think he would get...4 (12 terits) - 2 (radiated) = 2men...
instead he actually gets 3 (+1 for radiated nexus).... so if i know that i would probably attack 1 radiated zone to knock him down to 2 men.... 3 (11 terits) - 1 (radiated) = 2 men ......please tell me someone else understands what i am saying
Important.... I don't WISH this changed ... I like the rules and gameplay...I just feel that the explanations should be complete and accurate for every board and i am sure most of the club would agree with me on that point at least

you're just confused. This is how the XML works currently for that map.
Each radiation territory you hold gives you a -1. But, we notice that if you hold 2 of the radiation territories you still get a -1 and with 3 you get 0 bonus.
So, if you do hold 2 then you'll get -2 from holding both of the territories, but they give you a bonus of 1 so that the -1 according to the legend holds true.
Similarly if you hold 3 of those territories it will give you -3 for holding each of the 3 territories (-1 for each) and subsequently will give you a +3 to get the total bonus back to 0.
Like I said before, it's just a trick to get the bonuses to work out correctly. This was done before the newer XML features so now it could be done in a much more straightforward way. The bonuses people have been getting have always been the same as stated in the legend.
There is no change to gameplay. The bonuses you've been getting have been the same throughout. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup. It's just the way the XML is setup.
It would take someone all of 10-15 minutes to adapt the current XML capabilities to make it more straightforward. I don't have the desire to do this currently, but maybe this weekend I will. Or, maybe someone else will do it before then.

OH! Ok, I get what you're talking about.
What's happening isn't missing info. Look at the end total of troops gained. It should equal out to however many troops the map legend specifies one should receive. If you hold two of the radiation zones, you lose one troop when all is said and done. The XML doesn't work that way though. It subtracts one troop per each radiated territory. So if you held two radiated territories, you would lose two troops. BUT the legend says you only lose one. So the trick in the XML is to give a troop bonus to negate that additional loss.
Let me explain it better.
The way the XML works, you can only receive troops for holding a continent, whether the gain of troops is positive or negative. In the XML for USApocalypse, a radiated zone is treated like a continent. For each of those continents that you hold, you receive -1 troops. So holding all 6 of these radiation continents will gain a player -6 troops.
However, the legend shows that a player could only possibly gain -1 troop for any combination of radiated zones. So in order to ensure that the legend works out evenly, the XML includes "continents" that give a troop gain of +1. These "continents" - otherwise known as a "radiation nexus" - are every possible pair of irradiated zones on the map. So, owning Dallas and Georgia will give you -1 for owning the irradiated zone/continent of Dallas, -1 for owning the irradiated zone/continent of Georgia, but +1 for owning the radiation nexus/continent of Dallas AND Georgia.
Did that make sense?

Yeah, the map just shows the totals. If you add together your "irradiated territory" and "radiation nexus", it'll come out to what it says on the map. (In your case, that's -2 and +1, making a total of -1.)

that is rather confusing... i think if this was fixed and explained properly alot more people would play it. What you say JOta? time for a revamp?

A revamp? I think many other maps should be revamped before USApoc.

Thank you i understand .... but i think that during a game ....when reading the game log it is confusing when things like radiation nexus pop up and it isn't explained anywhere. i know i am not the only one who thinks that. a few people i know don't play that map cause they were confused also

now why do as other explain it the same way I do you do understand?

First, Keyogi or Andy would you mind linking the XML Tutorial in the Guide Map Making thread? (Maybe it is and I just missed it, but I don't think I missed it)
Anyway I've done what I think is a 'fix' to the XML for USApocalypse. Maybe someone will read it and make sure I didn't screw up the new section.
I'm not totally clear on the overrule command. Do I need to put all of the underlying overrules in there (eg: In 6 territories, it overrules 5,4,3,2,1 or just put 5 since 5 overrules 4 and 4 overrules 3 etc...)
