Conquer Club

Long ago, back in the days when KEYOGI ruled the map foundry with an iron fist, a young communist idealist tried to start a map that would develop as a community effort, Each artist would bring what he could to the table and thus it would grow. The idealist was Coleman.*

I have reborn the map in a very capitalistic way, under the watchful eye of the original brains behind the idea and here is the result:





The Gameplay

The gameplay of this is very alike to that of Age of Realms. You each start with you capitals, then expand.
There are many notes missing off the map and other tiny details, that i will get around to doing at some point.
The planet is not finished, but most of the layout is done, 90% of the fleets are complete.
Labels are not complete as i have run out of names for the fleets, and im in need of suggestion, (preferably short names due to the lack of space).
To win you have to hold the 7 objectives, the gun battery in the middle, and the 6 capitals.

Ok well i have probably forgotten 90% of the things i need to tell you, but im sure i can remember at some point.

hmm seems like a nice map to me, something refreshing, something new

it looks a bit small...it's like you have a lot of legend and a little bit of map...I like the look of it, it's like your inside of one of those ships
But don't exaggerate

Maybe you can make the world a little more 3D, Sphere it a little more...

gimil is right. he has to get credit for the idea as he was the first one to propose it in feudal wars.

we however must remeber that DiM has worked hard to develop the idea further

anyway where to start:

1. Its all very tight and i feel alot of the surrounding area is wasted when it could be used better to develop the game play

2. The legends and title are very bold and strong. i dont like this because it doesnt contrast well with the sleek design of the playablr area.

3. you have an extra usable 100px space which could again further gameplay or reduce the crampedness pf hte map.

4. attack route dots are FAR to dark i cant see most of them.

5. ALL the ships dont appear very visable

in fact basically nothing is really visable.

I like hte theme its going for but this isnt a very user friendlt 1st draft tel, the image needs to be tighened up and more visable.

I thought I started the idea with a suggestion topic way before either Feudal or AoM and that my other map I was trying to do it in was before both of those as well... Oh well.

colonisation is the english spelling.

Also does it really matter who came up with the idea first?

Regardless my spell checker doesn't like it very much, but if you are insisting on spelling it that way...

I think spelling it american may be more universal for all. But it depends on how hte international english speakrs spell it. A quick poll perhaps.

This is the small map it tends to look small and appear cramped, I hope when i make the large version things will seem more spread out.

The legend style was suggested by DiM, it was meant to look slightly like this:

It was meant to look sort of like a star trek style.

Visuals

If i missed your post, it was not on purpose, it is either because i think i answered it in this post or did not see it when i was scrolling though to answer the comments.

I can see them but there not as clear as they could be especially on a flat screen laptop where is easy to have the laptop screen angled a little making them less visable.

i could add a colourful outline if you think that will help?

Add a comma after 'win' in the how to win deal. I suggest you fix it since it is too easy to win that way. All you need is a lot of cards.

The planet should fade out into blackness, not just -end-.

The gun battery could bombard all the outer ships, or would it be better if the gun battery could attack and advance so it would be easire to take another capital. the planet should start neutral so you have to work to get to the gun battery

Small, but change "The Gun Battery Can attack the Capitals" to "The Gun Battery Can Attack All Capitals"

Idea - change army circles to army diamonds (squares turned 45 degrees) since it would match the four different teams.

Right now the Capitol on the right side (middle) is the most powerful.

1) Only has 1 direct access point to another capitol [all others have 2]
2) Only has to take 2 terrs to get a resource [only top right capitol is same - others have to take at least 3]

Conversely the Capitol on the bottom left is the weakest (2 direct access points and must capture 4 terrs for resource/gun battery).

Seeing as how all the Capitols are assigned the same bonus, they should have the same access to resources/opponents.

I can understand only 4 resources (make people fight for them).

I didn't read the old thread, but I assume you start with only a Capitol [or your entire fleet?] and expand from there? Or are armies randomly assigned throughout the whole map?

EDIT: Four Teams? I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Six.

Can you start with more than 1 capitol (if fewer than 6 players)?

There is no way to limit this in the xml so 2 and 3 player games would have players starting with 2 capitals each.

We can fight imbalance by boosting or decreasing neutral army counts in various locations.

Im rethinking the legend and it was just part of the general feeling of the legend not important.

The planet used to be inhabitant then they all died leaving most of there structures in place.

Dont quite get that idea, how would it match the teams?

all answered i believe in the first post:
guns can attack the ships so you can capture them, and the planet will start neutral.

im pretty sure i answered that in my first post, which is why there is a page arguing about who came up with the idea first
