From the RuneQuest (sword and sorcery) gaming system:-

It'll be copyrighted but we could use it for inspiration ;-)

Being an old gamer in this genre I'm happy to work with anyone who could help create this. There's two main power blocks, the Lunar Empire and the Kingdom of Sartar. The Lunars own the top left of the map (labelled Tarsh, its a province of the Empire), and have influence over the towns near them. Sartar is made up of all the tribes on the right, shown in smaller yellow text. Black towns/cities are normal human settlements, anything in red is non-human/magical in some way. Two are particularly weird: Delecti's Ruin is full of Undead, Snakepipe Hollow has chaos monsters, both in endless supply (+1 per turn?). If someone was really clever at programming, could each one be an "NPC army" which attacks anyone near them?
The bottom left of the map is an independent area loosely controlled by Beastmen (Centaurs etc). Other subdivisions across the map are that various Cults have centres of power on the map e.g. Sun Dome Temple is owned by Yelmalio, Dwarf Mine is Mostali, Troll Ruins is Kyger Litor, Old Wind Temple is Orlanth. This could be implemented as each colour player is a cult faction and has a "home" magical temple, and get a +1 bonus if they hold the temple, plus an extra small bonus if they hold the territory (any other player gets basic territory bonus only).

If anyone's up for this please PM me, and I'll do some scribbling in Paint with more structuring. Don't know about the copyright situation, guidance on this could be good also :) Or the names get slightly changed to protect the guilty :D:D:D

Looks very good. :D I think the copyright situation for cc is that you can use whatever as long as you dont use anything else for a base map but i cant be sure

nah...you can make this map looks the same...it only can't have any copyrighted things in it like names etc.
The autor can't take a copy right on a mountain or a river...
