Here is an idea that I have had for some time... a map where every territory and continent is the same... another small map like Doodle Earth. It's the 12 sided Platonic solid, known as the Dodecahedron.

First Version:

This map has some special properties:
-Every territory has 3 borders
-One continent will have 5 borders, but a second adjacent one will raise that to 6, and a third will either keep it at 6 or raise it to 7
-There are a total of 20 territories, which means 2 neutral territories at most, and at any rate, the neutrals can be used to guard borders effectively
-All continents share borders, and every territory is part of 3 continents, furthermore, only 3 players at a time can hold a continent
-In 5 and 6 player games, no player can start off with a continent, and in 4 player games, the probability of a given player starting off with a continent is less than .08%
-Every territory can be reached by any other territory in 5 moves or less

The territories are named after letters of the Greek alphabet. This is because Plato himself was a Greek philosopher and mathematician. He theorized that the dodecahedron was the structure of the heavens, which is why there are stars in the background. Also, it's less boring then letters or numbers.

This could be a very good idea, or a horrible idea, I'm not sure. It wouldn't be a good map for team matches, but who would play a team match with 20 territories anyway? One thing's for sure... this map is different, and I think it would be fun. Thoughts? :)

I think you are definately right about the limited number of territories. I think it might be interesting. I would definately play on a map like this.

Please no. The Cuboid already hurts my eyes enough.

by making every attack line the same color you lose any sense of perspective... which line is in front of which?

Concur - otherwise an insteresting idea - I would make the map a bit bigger too...

Love the look of it and it's an interesting idea. I'd suggest some shading effects be added to highlight the depth perception, or perhaps play about with thicker lines/bigger spheres to enhance this.

It could be great for 2-3 players but I wouldn't want to try 6 on there! Look forward to playing it.

Here I have solved two problems with 1 solution. Every line is 2 colors now, which means that you can tell the ones in front from the ones in back. Also, this lets me name continents by their color and position. Here's a list of proposed continent names... tell me if you have any suggestions:

Blue Top
Blue Bottom
Cyan Left
Cyan Right
Yellow Left
Yellow Right
Green Front
Green Back
Red Front
Red Back
Purple Left
Purple Right

It's not like the continent names matter much, seeing as they're only used for bonus purposes. :)
