Okay...so I have this idea for a map but lack every single quality needed to make it happen ie: software, knowledge, skill, etc
So I thought I would throw it out here and if anyone wanted to pick up the idea then cool...if not then it can die...
A "Plains of Abraham/Battle for Quebec" map. British forces verses French forces for the city of Quebec kind of thing.

I haven't done XML before, but would like to give it a shot.
Get a good starting image and gameplay idea, and I'll see if I want to throw my hat into this one.

How about this, you just drew continent borders. Make the insides of those territories.

that could work because there are entrenchments, also does any one know how to make ships?

I don't know how to make ships...I can barely turn my computer on without help...
But Coleman is right. Can make those continents and have smaller territories like Siege. Also divide up the St. Lawrence in to territories too maybe...
I sent you more thoughts in my PM to you...

Yep this is a great idea, and an important part in Canadian history
I would like to see a map staying true to the historical map (as in the overall feel and style) maybe even having the ships playable like many of cairns's maps

That is what I am hoping for as well...but my lack of any usable skills in this area makes me utterly useless...other than the original idea...

don't worry about graphics at the moment.
just make a map that is playable. that means continents, territories, bonuses etc...
graphics can come later.
you have to keep in mind that space needs to be made for territory labels, army circles, the legend (which you seem to have placed) and also the title.

i think this can be a cool map, and i have a minor suggestion:
the land mass in the bottom right hand corner doesn't look like it will be used (no ports)...so, maybe that would be a better place for the legend. this would open up space for more territories.

Very, very, very, very rough draft. I have a 6 year old Paint program and...well...I am not good. Not even good enough to make a legend on it...so had to type that up separate. And I don't know how to label the territories...so they are nameless right now.
But this is the idea so far.
Legend
Purple/Wolfe’s Camp -2
Light Blue/Hardy’s Camp -2
Dark Green/Moncton’s Camp -5
All 3 British Camps - plus 5
Dark Blue/Levi’s Camp -3
Brown/Montcalm’s Camp -3
Teal/Vaundreuil Camp -3
All 3 French Camps -plus 5
Grey/Quebec -6
Plains of Abraham -15
(Plains start with 15 neutrals)
Ports can attack other ports
Now the idea is to make the battle for the Plains of Abraham a battle. One of the ideas is to make it full of neutrals to start with...but how many? Do you make any stipulations to go with it? Like you have to own all three of either the British Camps or French Camp? I like this idea of having to own all three of either the British camps or French camps to hold onto the Plains...but is that even possible to do with code? Hold onto to it for one turn or something like that and you win...or just hold it for one turn and your camps and get a crazy large army bonus?
We also wanted to incorporate ships into it...but don't think there is enough room. Also I am unsure of the amount of ports to have (the little brown lines sticking out into the rivers). Is it a better idea to have direct routes to certain territories?
So please bring on the criticism or suggestions
(this is as good as it is going to get for graphics from me anyway...I don't have the skill or tools)

gimp is free and I'm pretty sure mibi's terraforming tutorial will work with it.
That said if you really don't have the interest in learning that you'll need to find an artist somehow.
