this is an actual map dating from 1652, it's not a risk map, that's what i'm looking for, someone who can make a CC map out of this city

I think you have a very good start. The graphics are problem going to need a complete make over. Just my thoughts. Oh yea, I need a penny.

Zwolle??? How provincial is that? Why not pick something a little bit better known to non-Dutch people, a bit more metropolitan? Medieval Amsterdam sounds like a great idea. I could help you with the historical background (I am not a map artist).

i think this would make a great map.
i would include the plains/farmlands surrounding the city, and keep the medieval theme.
gameplay would be similar to seige, one of my favorite maps.

if i wasn't busy with NYC, i would do this.
and if no one picks it up, i might try it further down the line...

zwolle is a big city with history, and in 1652 it was actually maybe bigger then amsterdam, and it looks a lot cooler, because it was a 'fortified city' like we had a lot in holland especially around 1600-1800

FYI, I am Dutch too.

Zwolle may have been bigger and more important then, being one of the cities in the Hanseatic league, but what counts is the appeal to the CC community nowadays. I'm sure Amsterdam has more appeal than Zwolle.

About the fortifications: almost ALL cities had them (The Hague being one of the very few exceptions), including Amsterdam, ofcourse. Building fortifications was one of the rights cities had over villages. Amsterdam became the capital after the independence of the Dutch Republic in 1642, and the leading financial centre of the world during the 17th century (losing much of its wealth again in the many following wars with England and France). Enough reason to not only heavily fortify the city, but to be the only city to get a new defensive ring around the city in the 19th century (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stelling_van_Amsterdam) after medieval fortifications had become useless for defense and had been taken down.

probably Naarden, which has simular defence lines, but is historically less important then Zwolle (or one of the other 10 cities or so with simular defences, i guess typically dutch, haven't seen them anywhere else at least!)

the point i wanted to make a map out of Zwolle is because i want to show the world our incredible medieval defence systems actually 8)
