Need railways for your map?

Drawing railways is now made easy: all you need is natty dread's patented railway brush!

The railway brush is a directional brush, ie. it changes based on what direction you draw with it. It works best when used with the path tool, ie. creating a path and stroking it with the railway brush.

Here's an example of use, with 3 different sizes (you can adjust the size by adjusting the scale-setting of the paintbrush tool before stroking):

You can download the railway brush here:

To install, simply copy the .gih file to your brushes folder. It's usually C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\brushes for windows users but this may vary depending on your installation. You can also specify any folder as a brush folder in the GIMP preferences.

Enjoy creating easy railroads!
