Risky, I'm shocked you didn't win your game. The cream rises to the top, though. Congratulations to all the winners from Round 1 thus far!

Well...I was in position to roll cashes a sweep the board. 3 players had 4 cards. I deployed and went for the weakest player (whose territories all happened to be adjacent to mine and was also the highest ranked). My plan was foolproof. Cash, roll, cash, roll, cash, roll was my plan. All 3 players with 4 cards were within 2-3 moves of my stacks. I could take out all 3 of them easily and if I wasn't able to take out the other 2, I didn't have to worry because they only had 2 cards each.

I distributed my troops in accordance to the opposition I was facing. 8 on the first, 9 on the second, and since I had some left over, 11 on the last one. You know, just in case. The attacks with stacks 1 and 2 went as according to plan. Perhaps I even put too many troops on them. Then came the last stack. My 19 against his 9.

You probably already know where this is going. My 19 failed to win. Now too weak to get back in it, my hopes of winning the tourney (even getting to Round 2) were shot down before they even got off the ground. I bided my time, set myself up in the best possible positions, played my cards right, and still got shafted in the end by crappy dice. :-/

Just letting off some steam I suppose. I really was speechless just after it happened. Hehe

Have a good tournament everyone! I hope your end is not nearly as frustrating as mine was. :P

That's a bummer BigUm. I was crippled by another player which led to a rapid board sweep. Oh well, it's all in good fun.

I am confused by your confusion. You won your game in round 1 and have joined your game in round 2. What further explanation do you need?

The following message was sent via PM to all Round 2 players...

"Hi All,

We have had one player drop out of round 2 and we need a replacement.

Would you guys rather...

1. Create one 5 man game for the stranded players

OR

2. Have us have a random drawing of losers from round 1 to fill the spot

Please respond with your vote within 24 hours so we can get going on a decision."

We will make a final decision within 24 hours.

Vote Count

5 man game........10
Random drawing...11

Wow the results are close, but the time to reply has expired and Random Drawing wins, so I will do that now....

Ok I did the drawing but when I went to fill in the blank spot I noticed that there are now 2 games with empty spots, so I will re-issue the poll.

This message was just sent to all active players...

Hi Guys,

You are not going to believe his but the poll was nearly tied at 11 to 10 in favor of the random drawing. I went ahead with the drawing, but when I went to fill in the last open spot I noticed that there are now 2 empty spots.

So I am re-issuing the poll and this time I am requesting all responders to please enter your votes in the tournament thread. The vote was just too close for comfort and I want everyone to be able to see the actual votes.

So again, the choices are...
1. Two 5 man games
2. Random Drawing of losers from round 1

Thanks

emelar wrote:1- Let them have a five man game. Why give someone who lost a 2nd chance unless the players in that game prefer a six man game themselves. Perhaps it is most fair to just ask those five instead of everybody else.

Let the five decide. Usually I would think they'd prefer the lesser number to compete against, but perhaps not for the game-play. However, if somebody lost by missing turns x 3, then it would still be a legitimate win for one of the other 5. So why potentially take it away from one of them to give it to somebody who already lost unless the majority of the 5 in the game prefer it that way?
I'm not adamant about this line of thought. It just seems sensible. (LOL, btw, I am in a six man game...I'm not in one of the fives trying to get myself an advantage...but I cannot say that the $10 they slipped me didn't color my opinion just a little.)
