Congrats to olkok, who won the French Open finale in three sets...takes him up to the No. 2 spot on the money list.

Week 5 tourneys are nearing a close, so week 6 will begin in a few days and an updated money list will be posted.

The start of week 6 tournaments have been sent with both DBandit and olkok cracking the $400,000 mark on the latest money list. In the middle of the rankings...we have about 10 players seperated by $20K, so every match will be important as we head down the stretch...good luck all

Fueled by a Double Double from Tim Horton's and the roars of a faithful Canadian crowd (solid drops on both maps), Plash.Ricrem picked up his first win since the Davis Cup Semis defeating French Open winner and 2 seed olkok in straight sets (54121070 and 5412108) to open the Montreal Classic. "I'm feeling really good about this tourney" Ricrem explained after the match noting, "I come up to Montreal all the time during the semester, you can't get poutine like this south of the border. Plus the crowd generally loves me due to my degree in Canadian Studies. I'm really hoping I can run the table on a court I feel comfortable on (I've played the Canada map like 150 times) and earn some cash for the money list. That reminds me, I'll have to ask commissioner flex, if the payout for this one is in American or Canadian dollars...."

olkok beat danfrank 2-1

Hard fought battle. Our last game went back and forth multiple times. Great series.

CCN caught up to Plash Ricrem following his second round exit at Wimbledon at the hands of #2 seed Dbandit. Ricrem was sipping a Guinness at the Laughing Lion, but appeared not to be in much of a jovial mood as we sat down for a quick chat.

CCN: Thoughts on yet another early exit in a major?
PR: Disheartening. This year its largely felt like I've taken 1 step forward and two steps back in nearly every tourney. I was pumped following my highly contested first round victory over danryan, but it seemed like everything that could go wrong did against Bandit.

CCN: Do you think the marathon nature of your first round match (winning 13 and 19 round matches) may have had an affect?
PR: I wouldn't be surprised. In the first set, I tried to come out aggressive, to prove to him that I wasn't scared of playing the #2 seed and at first I thought things were going great the first couple service games (picked up a +3 bonus round 2) but suddenly my legs got weak, and I lost my service (lost the first 8 throws of that turn allowing him to keep a +2 bonus.) Even when I turned my serve up a notch (mixed set to get back into it) I was double faulting all over the place (lost first 12 throws of that turn). The first set was just a mess.

CCN: But the 2nd?
PR: Well I knew my legs were weak and that I was doomed if we were going to go to a 3rd (Bandit won that won simultaneously in 9 rounds as I fell victim to more atrocious dice.) but I was hoping I could at least make a solid effort of it. It looked like I was going to be swept off the court, but suddenly my fortunes changed (Bandit had an 0- turn trying to break a +5 bonus that should have ended my hopes of victory.) The next thing I know, we're in the type of grind it out match I prefer, and I was able to pull it out.

CCN: Any last remarks?
PR: Well there certainly is a reason Dbandit is ranked 2 in the money list, and I wish him nothing but success the rest of Wimbledon. He was a true professional and very kind given the fact he was largely wiping my butt all over the court. I've just got to keep practicing and hope that I can put a streak together to make the top 12, it's a bit unnerving living on the edge as far as earnings go. I mean sure the 35k I've made here was nice, but it'll probably barely be enough to keep up with the Ga7's of the world.

I will be posting the qualifier stepladder for the World Championship tournament and the World Championship bracket by the end of the weekend, so we all know where our slot in the money list will put us for the end-of-the-season event.

Quick question Flex: For your Davis Cup Final on the original post you claim 100k for the winning team, yet in your latest pm you claim substantially less than that. For those of us who are in desperate need of $ which is it, the revised amount or the original? I mean I'll still fight tooth and nail for the $ regardless, I think it'd jut be nice to have that extra amount floating around in my bank account is all.

It is a $50K boost for winning in the finals...which would put each member of the championship team at $100K in total Davis Cup prize money...not including the minor amounts awarded for taking individual matches and sets along the way.

Ah I gotcha. Thanks for the clarification :D As the UK takes home the Davis Cup with a straight sets doubles victory!
