I think you must have your wires crossed somewhere...you are on Team Chile...down 2-1 with a doubles match and your singles match still ongoing.

Team USA is the only one to advance so far with a 4-1 win over Croatia...flags look similar for Chile and Croatia maybe that's the confusion.

The heat of Brazil got to me in the 1st set, losing it by a long margin. Took on some well needed refreshments & came back to win the 2nd & 3rd sets quite convincingly against an opponent not quite on his full form it has to be said. I think he peaked too early in a previous tourney, which I believe he was victorious in & that took the wind out of his sails a bit. So looking forward to playing ga7 in the next round of the Brazil Open.

Yes, Highlander went down. I paid the ball boys to feed him dead balls when he served. It wasn't a level playing field:)

We at CCN were able to track down Plash Ricrem following his 1st round exit in the South African Open losing to 5 seed Sun Tzup in 3 sets.

CCN: So what are you thoughts on your performance in the SA Open?
PR: Mixed, once again. I didn't think I played too poorly, but right now it just seems that the balls aren't bouncing my way.

CCN: This is the 2nd straight match where you've dropped the first set on the way to elimination. Are you concerned about an inability to come out of the gate swinging?

PR: I think that inexperience may be a factor. I mean I haven't played against most of these draws before, so usually I'm forced to spend the first set adjusting to their playing styles and what not. It also seems that they're breaking me first (going first and able to drop me an army on deployment on those weird maps that start with one territory more than needed to pick up a bonus). Hopefully in future situations I'll be able to do the same to them. I think it should also be pointed out that in both matches I've rallied back to force a 3rd set, so I don't think it's a matter of taking a first punch and being unable to get back up. I've just gotta ride that momentum into a W.

CCN: Any closing thoughts?
PR: Just gotta shrug it off and regroup for next week. Hopefully by then the bounces (dice/funny drops) may start going my way, as I'm fairly certain I'm capable enough to be playing on the tour. Also I hope we end up in some cooler climates the next few tourneys. I seem to struggle in the heat (now 0-6 lifetime on Africa), perhaps that's what I get for learning to play tennis in a location where we had to plow the snowbanks off the courts before taking our swings at 10 below 0. I think next week I'll probably end up in Charleston, where I've had some success in the past. If not, Acapulco is always nice this time of year...

Brackets are updated...new matches sent out...

Six of the eight South Africa first-round bouts went three sets...and only one higher seed advanced, so lots of upsets in Week 2.

Also, we're down to three in the Aussie Open with DBandit awaiting the winner of the #2 negoeien vs. #30 markec semifinal.

When sportsgod entered the battlefield for France , negoeien from the UK stood in amazement, watching this enormous athletic guy.
He quickly decided that he would try to win on competence and skill and certainly not on condition .
Sportsgod began the match with heavy hits and a killer serve, his mighty blows were no match for negoeien, who didn't find a way to anticipate this man's moves. He was still amazed by this France bloke so his focus was also off. He didn't get a hold on the game and was struggling to keep his own serve games. He quickly lost in the first set.

Amazed by this France guy, he asked for a time out, and just then it started to rain and the players would resume teh match tomorrow.
Negoeien could embrace the rain that moment and he searched his inner self for strenght to win the match.

The second and third set, sportsgod didn't have a chance. His blows were still hard and mighty but negoeien found a way to counter it and played some risky balls and went very agressive which helped. Then he broke the sportgod's serve and controlled the match.
This is for my country negoeien shouted and the crowd went crazy!
He defeated sportsgod after an amazing match .

brackets updated through this morning...

#1 DBandit and #30 markec are facing off for the Aussie Open championship.

In Davis Cup play...USA, Germany and France have all advanced, while the fate of Sweden vs. Spain falls to the doubles match that is currently in the second set. (Spain took the first set).

Also, we're in the finals of the Brazil Open with ga7 taking on b00060 for the big $$$

If matches continue to finish up here over the next few days...I'll send out the updated money list and start week 3 action.

Here's to Markec pulling off the stunning upset. :) As far as the Davis Cup goes, I think you meant to say that the UK advanced (you even have them advancing on your bracket...)

congrats to ga7 who is our first official tourney winner, claiming the Brazil Open title for a $40,000 payday...

Finals in the Aussie Open is still underway, and we are getting closer to finals in the South Africa and San Francisco tourneys.

On the Davis Cup front, Sweden and Spain's fate rests on a third-set in doubles play...should be a good finish.

Week 3 will go out over the next day or two...

Here is the exclusive CCN interview of Brazil Open's recent winner, ga7! :P

CCN: This is the first victory of your career, how are you feeling?
ga7: Great! I'm really happy to have won here, the Brazilian audience has been supportive all along the week, it helped a lot!

CCN: You didn't lose a single set this week, what is your secret?
ga7: I think the main part is that I was always able to keep my serve (started first in all games ), and some of my opponents had lots of problems with the heat (red sets).

CCN: What are your expectations for the rest of the season?
ga7: I hope to fill in the gap to the top 10 next week so that I have a decent seeding to fight in my home turf, Roland Garros :D

CCN caught up to Plash Ricrem following his straight sets (we played all 3, starting them all at the same time, but I won the flat rate games) first round victory in Charleston. "It was a close one. This was my second tango with Vykes already this season, and he came out swinging the first set (5159220). Unfortunately, he got frustrated and made many unforced errors (dice were terrible and he had a horrid turn that really sealed the match) which sorta gave me the set by default. The 2nd set was a lot closer, I started off well (picked up a couple of early bonuses) but he did a good job rallying back (3 card mixed) to stem the tide for a while. Luckily I was able to get my serve working (4 card blue set) which really hurt any chance he had of a comeback. It was a good start to my stay in Charleston and I'm hoping I can move up the money list. It's pretty embarrassing being the only team UK player not ranked in the top 10 so far this season, and I plan on changing that!

The QF match between NotNowKato & scottishleaf was re-match of the Davis cup singles game between Sweden & Spain, in which scottishleaf was victorious. Not wanting to let that get in the way of todays match, Kato came out in the 1st set all guns blazing to go 1set up in convincing style mixed sets in rounds 5&7). The 2nd set was hard fought by both players, going to a tie-break, but eventually Kato broke scottishleaf's serve with smashing volley (mixed set) & went onto serve the next game (+21bonus troops) to win the set. The glorious weather of the Caribbean was taking its toll on both the european players & the 3rd set was a hard slog, mistakes were creeping in, legs were getting tired, more double faults in the last set than the 1st two put together. Somehow, Kato, not wanting to go to another tie-break situation, managed to hold his serve for one last time (+23bonus troops), then attack scottishleaf on his service game to win the match in straight sets 3-0, totally drained, but very happy with the victory & hoping he can progress further than he did in the Brazil open where he fell at the SF to the eventual winner ga7.
