Messi's already broken almost every record he can I think haha! Found this list of his greatest record-breaking achievements published March 21, 2013, and really, it blows your mind. I must look up Ronaldo's records too.

1. World Record for Most Goals Scored in One Year (91)
2. Four-Time Winner of the FIFA Ballon D'Or (by age 25)
3. Scoring in the Most Consecutive League Matches
4. Barcelona's Top Goalscorer in Multiple Categories
5. Most Goals in a Club Season (73)
6. Most Goals Scored in a La Liga Season (50)
7. Most Goals Scored in El Clasico (18?)
8. Most Goals Scored for Argentina in One Year (12 in 2012)
9. Champions League Top Scorer Four Years in a Row
10. Most La Liga Hat-Tricks in a Season (8)

30 Messi records. - made by Messi fans though.

For an excellent comparison of Messi and Ronaldo, check out http://messivsronaldo.net/ as it does a pretty good job! =D>

I would like to see Messi play in another team. Let's not forget he plays for the best team the world has seen.

What has Messi done with Argentina? Not much. What did the rest of Barcelona players do with Spain, well, I rest my case.

@betiko - basically our idiot manager David O'Leary and chairman at the time, in our last Premiership season, spent a load of money bringing players in, assuming we would finish top four and get loads of money back for getting into Europe. We missed out to Liverpool by one point and came fifth. Then we had to sell players and it all went downhill.

It's remarkable the amount of quality players currently in the Premiership that have come from Leeds, and ones that have since retired or gone abroad. I'll get a list if you want.

Also, we've had Ken Bates as our chairman and owner for far, far too long. When he owned Chelsea he stated he would ruin Leeds United and that's exactly what he's done for the last ten years. Thankfully he was bought out and things are turning around again, but he's still trying to cause problems. We're challening the play-offs again which I'm happy to see and we're actually the cleanest team in the Championship! So much for Dirty Leeds aha.

One season I will never forget is when we went into administration in League One, had -10pts from the start and still got automatic promotion.

Lol, joshyboy just told you. Most goals scored in one season in the history of the argentinian team. Oh, and if you call this barça the best team the world has seen and that they aren t even close to be as good when he isn t there... Maybe, just saying maybe... He is a good reason for barcelona s successes these past 10 years? Maybe.. Just saying maybe... He will always be the first player that comes to mind if you ask about that team?
Messi won the olympic gold medal with argentina and qualified first easily in the conmebol group, cristiano... Well.. He did qualify portugal in playoffs!! Lol. If Messi had chosen the spanish national team instead of being loyal to his roots, no one would argue he s the best player of all times.
Cristiano just has to suck it up. One of the best, but wrong timing, sorry pal, you should ve born 10 years earlier so no one could compare you to the greatest!

Yeah, would have thought so to be honest. Someone might buy them but the majority of billionaires buying football clubs at the moment are doing to boost their profile and so immediately go for the higher tier teams.

Off the top of my head..
Ferdinand. Keane. Kewell. Fowler. Smith. Viduka. Robinson. Howson. Snodgrass. Johnson. Delph. Cantona. Milner. Beckford. Becchio.

That list is pretty rubbish really, but I'm tired and posting on my phone. I'll try and find something official tomorrow.

And this is different from Ronaldo scoring for Real and Portugal how so? What has Argentina done with Messi in the team over the past 8 years? Nada! They couldn't even win the Copa Amercia on home soil in 2011. Hell they didn't even win their group, going out in the last 8. At least Portugal reached the final in their Euros. Messi doesn't have the same heart for Argentina than for Brace because he has to work more with lesser players. He disappears in games while Ronaldo steps up and drags his team forward.

Sempai why do you post here when you don't have a clue what you're talking about?

The people criticising Ronaldo for diving and suchlike are basing their opinions on how he used to play. He learnt and progressed from that, now I wouldn't say he's any worse than the majority.

So you are basically a hater?

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are two completely different players in their style of play.

Lionel has a natural talent similar to Maradona's, although not as elegant, but he's quicker, and associates more. He's small which allows him to be in quicker than other players, style that don't always work in Europe. He dominates the aspects of "tecnica", change of rythm/speed, timing and he's one of the best in definition. He benefited greatly of steroids and growth hormone. He can play in all the offensive positions but he's more suited for a 10 or 9 1/2 positions.

Cristiano has a very strong will. He works his strength and speed in the gym and during training. He has an excellent ball control at high speed, obviously he's very fast, he's lethal in definition and has an excellent header. He kicks the ball with a steel pipe giving it an effect that confuses goalies. But most important, he has a will to score, if the ball is in feet, you know he can change speed at any time and score, or make some room and kick it. He plays in almost any position to the offensive but less likely in a 10 position.

So being a hater and believing it is stupid. I hate Messi but I recognize he's one of the best, if not the best of all time. I hate him basically because he plays for Barcelona, his attitude towards fans doesn't help him in my book though.

They are completely different.

Ridiculing Cristiano is like ridiculing Romario because he played during Maradona's time or Ridiculing Raul because he played during the Zidane era.

Just a heads up guys... in my opinion... the Messi vs Ronaldo debate and any argument about how good individual players are, is fucking stupid. :D I just put up a few stats for you there, cause I love crunching those numbers. Should have put up Cristiano's too I guess.

Again I'd direct you to Messi vs Ronaldo as it does a pretty good job comparing basic numbers.

To be fair, I haven't watched him since last year's CL (and I hardly watch any Real games, in general). Most of my opinion is based on his international play. If what you say is true, and he has started behaving like a grown man, then I will change my tune about him. If.

Lol, listen to yourself. Now cristiano has done much more for his national team because he lost twice vs greece in the portuguese eurocup in 2004.... Greece! They were hosting!! They lost twice to them!! (Greece!!)
It seems like i need to repeat myself. Messi= winning olympic games gold medal in 2008, 2007 copa america finalist. Messi wins again.

Anyone have any thoughts on the January transfer window?

In my opinion, we need to get another centre forward. We're relying too heavily on Giroud and no-one has confidence in Podolski or Bendtner to score 20+ goals a season, with good reason. Rumours flying around that we're looking at Costa - which would be cool - but how would that change the set-up of the current team? Who gets dropped? Who sits on the bench? If we pay a large amount of money for Costa, we're going to have to play him to justify the expenditure.

Diego costa? I seriously doubt the atletico would accept to sell him this winter. Come back next summer will be your answer. They are quite surprisingly leading the league and they just sold falcao, costa is pichichi so far, but it s true they also have david villa. If you get him now, he would be more expensive than ozil. IF they are interested to sell mid season... Not!

Yes, just rumours, and likely won't happen... nice thought though :D

As far as I'm aware, £32million would trigger his release clause. I'd love to see us do that, though not sure he'd be that keen.

A more hilarious rumour is Berbatov (former Utd and Spurs player) to Arsenal for a few million, which Wenger has said they have not considered. Although if we signed him and somehow we won the league there would be riots at White Hart Lane

We are discussing who is the best. I m saying that cristiano is one of the best of all time but messi is better and that cristiano should ve lived 10 years before (rephrasing just for you!!). You are basically saying the same thing but the other way around, but you re calling me a hater, and yourself a refined mind full of godly objectivity. I m asking again, were you drunk? Did you even read me? Or are you that much delusional with no sense of empathy?

He played for fullham last season right? I guess he s still there but not quite sure.. Well he was an excellent player at some point, a bit old now... Haven t seen him much since he left united so don t know what s left of him.
32 mil £ is like 35 mil € or more like 40 these days? That s way bellow his current market price. Your only chance is if he ends contract this summer and he is not renewing, but pretty sure it s not the case.

His contract expires in 2018 I believe but he's mentioned in the past he wants to move to Bundesliga? To be honest, it's probably just rumours, and I don't see him moving. The thought is just really nice haha! :D
