Well, I might as well start with the obvious. Anthony Weiner was (and I assume still is) a Clinton Supporter.
I think it is intuitively obvious to a casual observer (read this book if you don't understand why) that he has a snowball's chance in Hawaii of getting the nomination (or anything else) as long as Obama has say on the matter.
Second, this is a get out the vote ploy. He's still got the job until the Senate confirms his replacement. There is a good chance the Democrats could loose the Senate. The threat of loosing the greatest civil rights Attorney General and all of his wonderful gains might draw votes in swing states.
And speaking of both Holder and Clinton Supporters (paging Mr. Cuomo) ... Holder Backs Lawsuit Against Cuomo For Failing To Provide Legal Counsel To The Poor.

The extremely popular Weiner/Holder ticket.

If you can think of another key critical liberal hot button issue that can rally their base, let me know.

That's the problem. Liberals don't actually care about anything.
The FBI has been handcuffed in terms of investigating religious extremists in mosques, as a result of guidelines put out by the attorney general earlier this year.
The issue of how investigators may take race, ethnicity, or religion into account during an investigation is a difficult question, but it is not a new question. We have long recognized that it is not feasible to prohibit outright the consideration of race, ethnicity or religionāthe description of a suspect may include the race of the perpetrator, and groups (such as Aryan Brotherhood, La Cosa Nostra, or the IRA) that are under investigation may have membership criteria that tie to race, ethnicity, or religion. But it is also the case that it cannot be, and should not be, permissible to open an investigation based only on an individualās perceived race, ethnicity, or religion. We believe that the balance struck in 2003 in this regardāreflected in the Attorney Generalās Guidance Regarding the Use of Race by Federal Law Enforcement Agenciesāis the appropriate one, and we have not changed that balance.

The people of the Westboro Baptist Church are rude, obnoxious, disgusting, and Un-Christian but I don't see them chopping anyone's head off in the most crude manner possible.
(I mean really, Madam Guillotine is over 200 years old. Even a battle axe is better than what those Islamic Extremists use.)
