Texas: "The compact is broken."

Governor Abbott has invoked the Invasion Clause of the U.S. constitution permitting Texas to enter into treaties with foreign nations and to raise military and naval forces without congressional approval, due to the failure of the Biden regime which last week lost its mandate after only 46% of the public voted to support it. Abbott has said he will now take "unprecedented actions" to defend Texas from the imminent danger posed by a geriatric and faltering Biden independent of the federal government.

Clause 3: Acts Requiring Consent of Congress
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.

If another state also invoked this clause, could those two states then go to war?

No. The clause covers a defensive war only to repel an invasion. Two states could invoke this clause, but since they would have to remain in a defensive posture neither could attack the other.

Ah, sad.

They could launch a pre-emptive defensive strike though  the US federal government claimed self-defence when assasinating an Iranian general in Iraq, and I believe also used pre-emptive self-defence to justify invading Afghanistan and Iraq, so there is strong precedent for American forces to undertake defensive military invasions with Washington's blessing.

So maybe California could also invoke the clause and then Texas could pre-emptively nuke Los Angeles.

Hey, I'm being honest too. The US federal government invoked 'self-defense' as its reason for launching all those attacks.

I did take your point that states would be unable to declare non-defensive offensive wars though.

Wow, anti-wheelchair jokes. Democrats have gone from attacking the GOP's Muslim candidates for their religion, to attacking the GOP's disabled candidates due to their injuries.

Governor Abbott is not backing down - yesterday he elevated Texas to WAR STATUS RED and is moving more troops to the Mexican border. Today he convened a meeting of the Texas general staff at a forward command post in El Paso.

While the U.S. military is tied down in a losing war in Yemen and Biden's popularity is now the lowest of any president since James Buchanan, Texas has sent state troops to seize control of a section of the U.S. border and evicted the U.S. Border Patrol from the area.

Texas state officials this week abruptly blocked federal U.S. Border Patrol agents from entering and patrolling a public area in the border town of Eagle Pass where they typically first encounter migrants who cross the Rio Grande illegally, two U.S. officials told CBS News on Thursday.

After seizing control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas National Guard units deployed by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott have prevented Border Patrol agents from entering the area, the federal officials said.

Earlier Thursday, Texas state officials prevented Border Patrol boats from patrolling that area, one of the officials added, requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press.

"They are denying entry to Border Patrol agents to conduct our duties," the official said, noting they are not sure "what authority (Texas officials) have over the federal government."

In a filing early Friday with the Supreme Court, the Justice Department described the extraordinary standoff between Texas state forces and the federal government. Citing testimony from local officials and photos, the Justice Department said Texas was using armed Guardsmen and vehicles to deny Border Patrol agents and federal soldiers access to roughly 2.5 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.

3 year old graphs? So brave and trendy!

The news from this week however, shows a literal tossup currently.
Both Biden and Trump are polling under 50%

Biden is viewed favorably by 41% of U.S. adults, eight percentage points below his 49% favorable rating in October 2020. Mirroring the trend in his job approval ratings, his favorability is down by more than 15 points from his elevated ratings above 50% in his first year as president.

Trump’s 42% favorable rating is slightly lower than his 45% reading in October 2020 but improved from his weaker ratings in 2021 and 2022 when he faced intense criticism over his handling of the election outcome, including the Jan. 6 riots.

Saxi is the Propaganda Minister of Chaos. No need to fact check his entertaining nonsense.

President Biden needs to call on his security forces and rid this country of his political enemies and insurrectionists/traitors. Trump approves of this totally legal way cleaning this country of vermin who are poisoning the blood of true patriots.
