A black soldier who defected from the US Army has revealed that he was motivated by a desire to escape 'inhuman maltreatment and racial discrimination within the US Army':

This confirms similar reports from the soldier's uncle earlier this month, who complained about the racial abuse suffered by his nephew.

Kinda the point I was making. We don't know what treatment. Something bad might have been done, or it might have been nothing at all. But since the only thing we have is his word, and his word is tainted, with obvious ulterior motives, it's not like anyone is going to give it a lot of credit.
