At 3.34 am today, I woke up enough to open my eye (just the one) and read the time. However, I was still deep in a depressing dream in which I had to go back to school today, and was seriously miffed about that - I'd been enjoying myself NOT being at school. My mother told me I had to go whether I needed to or not, and I consoled myself with the fact that I could reconnect with my friend Billy, that I hadn't seen for ages.
I gradually came fully awake as I considered the following : (1) that school is in a different continent, and was knocked down to make way for a housing development many years ago; (2) it is several decades since I saw Billy; and(3) My Mum has been dead for several years, and also lived in a different country to me when she was alive...
So I didn't go to school. I hope I don't get put on detention by Ackers (one of our names for the headmaster: the other was 'Hitler').

That's nothing. Your dream-you is currently having a horrible 'wake' in which he thinks he's a middle-aged, friendless, orphan stranded on some distant foreigh continent.

You know, the tooth brush mustache was pretty popular in the nineteen twenties. Maybe Ackers was attempting to bring it back.

Errol Flynn in the movie "Chaplin" was quoted as saying, "Why Charlie, he's stealing your act." About herr Hitler.
