First of all, No.
There are already threads.
Threads do a fine job of separating topics.
Readers should be able to see all the various threads in one list and then choose to read or post only on the threads that interest them.
Readers who are compulsively triggered by threads or posts they don't like shoud take psychiatric meds.
If the prescribed dose of such meds doesn't do the trick, maybe try an overdose.

This also brings up a related question. What the heck is that goofy, stand-alone Street Corner Forum supposed to accomplish??

P.S. 'kittens' also counts as a 'No' vote.

Having 8 threads titled more or less the same is getting silly. Give it is own sub forum and they can spam their ideologies to their hearts content

The real situation is politics is an element of everything. The politics you don't like or care about will be different from what another reader will think or feel about it.

Personally, I'm mostly interested in the humor and wit of every situation, political or otherwise, ...though I just said there really is no 'otherwise'.
You should know as well as me, DDS. Humor and comedy does not keep people from having political opinions about the material.

However, having a limit on the number of new threads per player might be a good idea. Maybe 1 thread a week? (...1 a month?) That should be enough to handle any new wars, elections, or stupid videos that come down the pike.

Though if your concern is not being able to find posts you like. (Yes, the search function is pathetic)
Just remember, deep threads can hide the goods worse that a wide number of top threads.

YES.

PLEASE.

Do the members with the most tenure and who are obviously the most dedicated to the site get more sway in the voting?

I vote yes on that too.

I would LOVE not seeing the political crap.

In my opinion, if you move Politics out of this Forum, it will likely die, a slow death (and perhaps a bit faster than CC will die out) with a whimper, and not a bang (Big or otherwise).

Politics is what many get passionate about, and there are few other such topics that inspire such passions. Religion already has its own Forum, more or less. I tried to get a discussion on key battles (and History) and that did not get much attention (which, for a war and battle site, surprises me). Cooking (and eating) has sparked a bit, but not much interest.

What is left, if Politics is out?

You can blame mostly ONE poster for TOO many similar threads.

I would suggest a quick perusal of the off topic forum before voting. How many threads would be left? What threads get the most engagement?

There aren’t a lot of threads that don’t have politics. Yes, there are a few who create posts more than others, but a lot of people reply to them. Those people are reactionary posters, which is really cool as it keeps the conversation going.

What next should we have a separate space where we can laugh at people who die and don’t share our world view?

I really do see the forum hurting from removing it.

Get this clown off the forums, ...for political reasons of course.

I think we should micro manage everything. More rules more regulations and higher taxes.

Plus, you barely play here, you're not a paying member and you have few posts.

I fart in your general direction.

It's entirely possible that people who aren't obsessed with US politics might start visiting OT more often if the politics were removed.

Those people are reactionary posters, which is really cool

I'm not sure I agree it's 'cool' that 90% of threads immediately turn into a flame war where jp, Pack Rat and Gary argue about whether Biden wears nappies.

Possible yes. But nothing is stopping anyone from posting about rock climbing or fishing or medical journal commentary. I think part of the reason for the high engagement is that everyone is affected by politics. That is the one area people always go back to.

I see your point. Quantity is not quality. Some of it is entertaining and some of it is just rubbish.

Can we have one thread/forum for cry-babies who never grow up?

p-brat is OBVIOUSLY speaking about himself....!! :D

Who started about or more than 10 threads about politics to which NO ONE responded?

Simply look at the FACTS. See the link I posted here in this thread. PERIOD.

No one replied my little sensitive stalker, because either everyone agreed or did not know how to twist facts into alternative facts.

Go back to the word association thread/forum that you are clever at.

P.S. 'kittens' also counts as a 'No' vote.

I'm bumping my own post for three reason.
1. It's the best post. (BTW, the second best post is also mine)

2. I still seriously want TeeGee to explain the history and motivation for that lame Street Corner Forum, as I suspect it is a failed previous attempt at something very akin to this.

3. I did change my vote from 'kittens' to 'No', ...only because I could just see some A-hole vote-counter claiming that my vote was too vague and poetic, even though it totally was not.
