Ah yes, the saskatoon, also known as the serviceberry or juneberry (Amelanchier alnifolia). A most distinctive fruit...

The filling seems to cook to a pleasantly firm texture, which I approve of. I do not like excessively runny pies.

Saskatchewan, named for the river running through it, which is from Cree (Algonquian) kis-si-ska-tches-wani-sipi "rapid flowing river."
Sasquatch, is Salish for wild man.
So maybe Saskatoon means something like 'wild river berry'....

However other similar-sounding words such as Sassafras and Sarsparilla do not have Amerindian origins.

I had mincemeat once (in England) and it was fine. I liked it. But favorite? No way, Jose.

Mincemeat can indeed be very fine, ....depending on the exact recipe of the mince, of course.
Overall, it is a healthier pie option, ...though still highly caloric.

I'm not completely opposed to key lime pie, when one is craving a sugar-bomb,
But it's just basic custard pie, ...with a smidge of added complexity from the tanginess of the lime's juice and zest.

You probably find it excessively sweet, despite the zest. I understand, though it is still on average better than lemon meringue or pecan, the latter being rarely even acceptable. Not because of the pecans, which are fine (though inferior to walnuts), but because of that foul clammy brown sugar goop that they are usually imbedded in, ...like gravel in asphalt.
Hmf, I actually already discussed this exact same matter last holiday season.

Of the other pre-selected choices, Apple is probably the one most deserving of the title Finest Pie, though Pumpkin can also be very nice.
Of course, it should go without saying, all of this highly dependent on the exact recipe and quality of ingredients and preparation.

Pumpkin. Easily. Or cherry. Apple is a third. Pecan is pretty low.
