I will mark this as full on Sunday, and proceed with as many players as we have signed up by then.

The number of players eliminated in each round will be adjusted accordingly, but the finals will still have 5 players.

Update

Round 1 Set 1 has begun - games have been created and sent out. A scoreboard on Google sheets has been created, and can be found in the second post.

Do check before joining that your Home Settings have been created accurately (your home game is the one where your name is in the first position / red player). Post here or send me a PM if it's wrong, and I will rectify it by sending out a new game.

As we are starting with 23 players instead of the original 25, there will be 8 players eliminated in Round 1, instead of 10. Hopefully we won't have dropouts either, since it's been a while since signups first opened! I'll update here if there need to be any further changes.

Good luck, and have fun!!

Update

We have gone 2 weeks into the tournament, with 6 games completed and the other 17 still ongoing. Out of these 6 completed games, half of them were won by the player on home settings. It's no surprise then, that these players are currently at the top of the leaderboard.

shoop76 currently leads the pack with 25 points and 2 wins under his belt (including his home game), while Rallister13 trails behind in 2nd place with 18 points. Italogq79 and pissedoffsol follow closely behind in a tied 3rd place at 16 points, though Italogq79 achieves that mark with less games completed. Falkomagno rounds out the top 5 with 14 points.

We still have 6 players who have yet to get on the scoreboard, but that really isn't a cause for concern in this tournament. You do get 1 point for coming in last in a game, after all!

In any case, we're only a quarter of the way through Round 1 Set 1, and we still have Set 2 to go, so the tournament is still wide open at the moment. Good luck!

Update

Another two weeks have elapsed, and 11 more games have been completed.

The top of the scoreboard still holds most of the same names - shoop76 maintains his lead with 37 points. Meanwhile, Italogq79 currently sits in 2nd with 36 points (and is the only player so far with 3 wins), but is guaranteed to at least tie or surpass the lead, as he still has one ongoing game.

Rallister13 drops down a spot to 3rd with 29 points, but still keeps his spot in the top 5 after adding another win to his belt; while DBandit70 sneaks in as a newcomer in the top 5 with 28 points, just a point behind Rallister13.

pissedoffsol and Sparrticus come in at a tied 5th place with 22 points apiece, though many players are nipping at their heels, hoping to leapfrog over them. In fact, the players placed 5th to 21st on the scoreboard are currently separated by an average of a mere 1 point per position, with no more than a 2 point gap between each player. It's definitely a tight race ahead!

I intend to send out the the next set when all players have no more than 2 ongoing games from the first set, to move things along.

Update

3 more weeks into the tournament, and we're down to the last 11 games of the round - meaning we're three quarters of the way through the round.

We see three familiar names crowning the top of the leaderboard at the moment, with shoop76 maintaining pole position after adding 2 wins to his belt so far, giving him 62 points. Rallister13 is hot on his tail after rising from 3rd to 2nd place with 61.5 points; and DBandit70 similarly lifts from 4th to 3rd, staying close to the leaders with 59 points. However, the latter two only have 1 game left to score more points for the round, while shoop76 still has 3 ongoing games for the round.

Silly Knig-it breaks into the top 5 for the first time at 4th place, after successfully clinching 2 wins (including his home map) to achieve 54 points. barley round out the top 5 and is also the first player to complete all their games for the round, with a final score of 46.5 points.

Just outside the top 5, Italogq79 sits at 6th place with 46 points, falling from 2nd place after a challenging run so far in Set 2. pissedoffsol and Sparrticus find themselves in a similar situation, falling to the middle of the pack.

JJ41375 and Marechal joffrealso come in at a tied 7th place and 45 points; the former of whom holds the unique distinction of being the highest-placed player without a win so far. That's honestly a pretty impressive feat although I'm sure he'll be looking to add a win to his name in due course.

The field is still wide open, and there's lots of movement still happening on the scoreboards. It's anybody's guess who's going to be eliminated this round, and hopefully that won't be you. Good luck!

Update

We're down to our last game of Round 1, with 2 more spots in Round 2 left undecided. I'll hold off on creating games for Round 2 till some eliminations happen, or the last game is completed.

The top of the scoreboard, however, is mostly settled as we move into the next round.

A new players crowns the top spot, with Donelladan edging out shoop76 for pole position with 72 points and a massive 5 wins. The late surge to the top comes as most of his games play out to the round limit, causing the points to be tallied later. shoop76 is in close pursuit, just 1 point behind though - with 71 points and 4 wins.

Rallister13 and Silly Knig-it stay within the top 5 at 3rd and 4th, with 67.5 and 66 points respectively.

Meanwhile, JJ41375 edges out DBandit70 to take the 5th spot, after finally getting a win under his belt. Among his scores for Round 1, he has amassed eight 2nd-place finishes in the games, which also makes him the only player who has 9 out of 10 games where he finished in the top 2. Certainly it's not quite the same as getting wins, but still an impressive feat nonetheless.

Finally, as a reminder, the scores for Round 1 will be halved when we move into Round 2, so don't be surprised when you see new numbers on the scoreboard when the next round starts!

Update

Round 2 has kicked off, and all games have started. The bar to meet for this round is a lot higher than in Round 1 - previously a third of the players were eliminated; but now only a third of the players will get to move on to the finals.

It's time to get those cylinders firing, if you haven't already!

Update

There are still 4 games ongoing in Round 2 Set 1, but I've decided to send out the games for Set 2 to keep the tournament moving along, since most of these are turning into stacking games.

The scoreboard has a new leader, as Rallister13 crowns the leaderboard with 74.75 points, after previously sitting in 3rd place. He is just over 10 points away from the nearest competitors, a sizeable lead at the moment owing to his 3 wins in the most recent set.

Previous leader, Donelladan, comes in at a tied 2nd-place with 64 points. His score remains boosted by homeground settings which clearly plays to his strengths, as he has come out victorious on the map 3 out of 3 times so far. Sharing the 2nd-place spot is DBandit70, who rises from 6th place. The current top 3 players all received a healthy boost from wins on their homeground settings in this set.

Rounding out our top 5, we have Silly Knig-it holding his 4th-place position with 57 points; and shoop76 in 5th with 52 points, falling from his previous 2nd-place position as he still seeks out a win for the set.

Italogq79 lies in wait just outside the top 5 with 49 points; while previous top 5 contender, JJ41375, takes an unfortunate tumble to 12th-place with 36 points after coming in last in all completed games for the set thus far.

There's still time to shake up the leaderboard and sneak into the finals, so fight hard! Good luck!

Yep! You can refer to the scoreboard as well, they should all be counting as per normal.

Re: Masters of Standard II [Finals Set 1]

Postby anamainiacks on Thu Nov 05, 2020 12:11 pm

Update

We've now moved into the finals of the tournament and the competition is really tight, with many familiar names filling the top spots. Our top 3 spots are identical to the top 3 players at the end of Round 1.

Donelladan reclaims his spot at the top of the leaderboard after previously dropping to 2nd. He ends the round with 108 points, and another 5 wins in his pocket. Remarkably, this means he has a 50% win rate in the tournament so far. His scores are also bolstered in part by his bankable home ground wins, as he remains the only player not to have lost on his home map yet.

Hot on his tail, shoop76 rebounds from 5th to 2nd with 107 points, picking up 4 wins since the last update. Rallister13 remains within striking distance of the crown despite falling from 1st to 3rd, with an overall 106.75 points. In fact, Rallister13 gains the most points in Round 2, though the earlier 2 players are buoyed by their lead in Round 1.

Marechal joffre breaks into the top 5 in 4th place after a solid showing in Round 2, earning a spot in the finals with 84.75 points; while DBandit70 drops back from 2nd to 5th with 84.5 points after failing to clinch further victories in the round.

This would round out our finalists; however, Marechal joffre seems to have disappeared from the site despite multiple invites and attempts at contact, and has thus forfeited his spot.

Silly Knig-it thus barely edges out Sparrticus to slides in and take the final spot, having 77 points over the latter's 76 points.

As we move into the finals, the scores are halved once again. This brings the point difference between the top 3 players to less than 1 point; whereas DBandit70 and Silly Knig-it have their work cut out for them, but still can cause an upset.

Set 1 has been sent out, which consists of everyone's home game. Subsequent invites will be sent out as and when a game finishes. Good luck!

Re: Masters of Standard II [Finals Set 2]

Postby anamainiacks on Wed Dec 02, 2020 10:53 pm

Update

The final game of the finals has been sent out, and we are well into the last round of this tournament. With half of the games in the finals now completed, let's see how things are shaping up.

First off, each of the finalists have claimed a victory apiece, so the competition is still fairly even. None of the players have managed to win on their home map either, though Silly Knig-it does still have a chance to make it happen. Based on the current drop, that does seem unlikely though.

This statistic means that Donelladan's win streak on his home map is finally broken. However, he still remains in the top spot with 79 points, boosted in part by still clinching a 2nd-place finish on his home map. Just a fraction behind him, Rallister13 climbs up to 2nd place, with 77.875 points; while shoop76 slips down a rung to 3rd place with 71 points.

Silly Knig-it posts the best performance of the round so far, with 30 points added from this round alone, to bring him to a total of 68.5 points. This comes after a series of 2nd-place finishes in the games in addition to his win, and takes him up a spot to 4th place, over DBandit70 who comes in with 61.75 points.

Final 5 games of the tournament, and the title is still up for grabs! Good luck!

Re: Masters of Standard II [Winner: shoop76]

Postby anamainiacks on Sun Dec 20, 2020 1:52 am

Update

It was a thrilling final set of games, with the title still being closely competed. It came down to the wire in the last game, to see who would finally come out on top.

In the end, it was shoop76 who pulled off a clutch performance with 3 wins in the last 5 games to put him ahead of the competition with 109 points. He overcame the 5-point lead that Donelladan had held over him going into the last game, as Donelladan was eliminated first en route to shoop76's victory in the final game.

The final standings closely mirror the standings at the end of Round 2 - apart from shoop76 making the leap to take the title, the remaining players came in in the same order, with Donelladan and Rallister13 coming in 2nd and 3rd respectively. It was definitely a strong performance from each player across the board, in a closely contested final.

Interestingly, shoop76, Donelladan, and Silly Knig-it all competed in the first Masters of Standard tournament that ran 5 years ago - and all improved on their placings. While shoop76 previously missed out on the win with a 2nd-place finish, he now finishes what he started.

=D> =D> =D> CONGRATULATIONS SHOOP76 =D> =D> =D>
