Thats unfair. The competition would have determined who is the best dubs not the score or games played together
. Limiting participants just makes this just another tournament with no importance at all.
Dont even need to mention that the satttelites were very few and filled in no time, not allowing many many teams to even try to participate.

Mate, I feel for you {and in the same breath am glad I'm not facing you + Denise} but sempai has done nothing different from what was already set-out in the original conditions which you would have read and agreed to when you signed up:

You must have won at 20 doubles games with your partner.

It's not an all-comers open tourney, rather its intent is to pit established doubs teams against one another.

Play some more with Denise {send photos} and spare a thought for the poor sod who is teamed with Dako.

First games have been sent! The 128 players who qualified should each have 7 new games on their "Active Games" page.
Tournament page is up, but still needs a couple of tweaks. I'll post a link to it when it's finished.

You can play just surrender and I in a mini tourney if you want. We were the last seed by score so I am sure it would be free points for you lol.
If you wrong me I will hunt you down and destroy you.

Disclaimer: This is not a complaint, merely an observation.

Back in the day I used to play almost exclusively doubs, partnered by a great guy Daryth {he with far more willpower than I and able to cut the CC umbilical cord}. My recollection is of challenging games, few of which could be determined by Round 2.

Fast forward to 2014 and it seems so different. Is it me just getting older and more cynical? Am I involved in a freak series of seven games? Or are the rolls so lopsided that victory or defeat can be determined within one or two rounds? Of my seven games, six can be said to have been 'no contest' - either winning or losing with no real challenge or better/inferior gameplay. I could have partnered my cat & dog in some of them and they may have fared better by not clicking 'Start'.

So this is a question really. Are any of you others playing games that are 'all over' within a few turns and does it seem different to how things used to be?

Have tactics left the building?

For a large number of games I've played in recent months this has been true. There have only been a handful where I can confidently say that the outcome was not all but determined by the end of round 2-3.

Sitting will be allowed 10 times throughout this tourney and only by your current teammate.

Does this mean only separate 10 turns throughout the entire tournament can be sat? In round 3 it sounds like we may have 32 games at once.. if you go away for even one day, your sitter has to pick no more than 10 turns to take? Or am I misunderstanding?

How are the 48 better teams determined?

a) top 6 out of every group of 8
b) top 48 out of one big group of 64

Besides round 1a+b scores determining seeds for round 2, do they have the effect of carrying over or will everyone start with a "clean sheet" record of 0-0?

I am not 100% sure on the answers to any of your questions.
Swifte, I believe it is 10 turns throughout the tournament, but you raise a valid point.
Rodion, I believe it is the top 48 out of all 64 teams, and the scores do carry over, but I am not entirely certain on either point.

I will attempt to get definite answers for you from bigWham.

UPDATE:

The rule on sitting is 10 turns total, throughout the tournament.
I will say, however, that I personally do not agree with either of the rules concerning sitting and have recommended to bW that they be repealed for this tournament and not be used for future tournaments.

The 48 best teams will be the top 48 out of all 64 teams, irrespective of groups.
Scores will carry over from round 1A to round 1B, but not from round 1B to round 2A.

You're probably just a better player now than you were a few years ago. Therefore, you can pretty much instantly recognize a win or a loss. Many (most?) games are probably decided within the first couple rounds as long as the dice or the players don't do anything too crazy after that.

Disclaimer: This is a complaint.

The sitting rules have been awful in this whole series of tournaments ... if you can even call it that.* I appreciate that it's not your doing sempai; same thing happened to chap in the 1v1 tourney. If the site wants to get all crazy about sitter rules, then it needs to put together the long-awaited sitter feature. Until then the sitting "violations" in tournaments like these will go to those that are either unlucky or honest.

*The 1v1 tournament is basically dead right now, with no one responding to the growing number of players wondering what the hell is going on.
