well, i would have thought that a game would have been finished by now. it's been 8 days. i think i'll wait till at least one game has finished before i send out the next set. i don't want to overload anyone.

If I could offer some feedback, I'd like to comment that the organization and effort to keep players informed and 'comfortable' is second to none. I like your pretty score chart and being able to see at a quick glance upon entering the thread, exactly where i stand.

I'm not sure if this tourney has been tried before, but one thing I am finding out is that these games just don't freaking end on this map. Even when you stand down, it takes forever. I had one player stand down in a round 1 game and by just deploying and quitting, he built up a 45 stack before i could finish him off (which incidentally still isn't done).

This is obviously a map issue and not an issue for this tourney thread but for the fact that we are playing 15 games on this thing first, just to figure out who we are going to play. That's a whole lot of risk, just to line us up. I think the random draw may be a better option to start this thing.

It's just my personal preference but it's all good. I'm really learning this map :-)

Edit: The game mentioned above, is indeed finished. I won it a couple of weeks ago, along with one other but my record is still 0-0. If there is a problem, let me know.

to be honest, i thought the games would go quicker. usually there are always some games that will drag due to the two players just being matched and not being on the same schedule. i kind of anticipated that. but some of these games are just seeming to last alot longer than expected. i was thinking that half the games for each set would finish within a week. boy was i wrong.

this is also delaying getting the next round of games out. i don't want to bombard everyone with numerous games on the map as well becasue then it takes some of the enjoyment out of the game itself because in order to have a quality game you really have to think these turns through. i know i'd hate to come home after a long day at work and after eating a bite, taking a shower, catching a tv show i had 8 turns of stalingrad to make before i could hit the sack.

so in hindsight, maybe i should have just shrunk the rr to half the games. maybe say you'd play a random mix of only 8 games against unknown opponents. that should still give a pretty decent base of ability at the board to set up a quality bracket.

i've set up other tournaments on this format that have worked pretty well, i think you've even played them. so i was really excited to get a stalingrad bracket going for those that really wanted to test their mettle on the board. i know i like the map and would love to have a go ( but i don't play in my own tournaments to keep the drama out ).

but in that respect as well, i can't just go changing things up now. i kind of have to see the thing through. we are over halfway in the rr, so hopefully the games will start ending sooner rather than later.

also, i am a bit behind and i apologize. i've been meaning to send out the next set of games for a few days now but have been putting it off. i'm kind of on a low cc interest level at the moment, ( this will not last ) i did go ahead and update the scorecard for you as i know there are those that really like to check it. ( including myself, it's how i get my rocks off by running the thing ) i will make it a point to get the 3/4 games out tommorrow night. that way we just have one more set to go and before you know it the bracket will be set.

thanks for the feedback, it's always good to hear, ( good or bad )

=D>

standings updated.

in other news;

it looks like apokolips has vanished. so unless i get a pm from him stating he wants back in before the bracket starts, he is out.

the good news is, this means the everyone gets a win, and the no. 1 seed will get a first round bye.

also, there is just one more set of games to be sent. i'll probably send them around april 8-9ish. after that, it's going to be a long drawn out procedure to finish up all the games. week one games were sent around feb 19. and there are still 5 acitve. it appears all but one of those are decided. so my estimates for the bracket to start will be around mid june.

honestly, i know the games take a while, but i just figured there would be more of you playing in real time. i'm not complaining, just explaining my thoughts. i usually have about 10% of my 1v1 tournaments finish the same day of game creation. and i thought this would be similiar.

anyway, other than the games just dragging out, this is still going to be a good tournament. especially for Stalingrad specialists.

so good luck everyone and have fun. :D

as of now, all round robin games have been created and invites sent.

i've updated the scores to reflect everyones free win over apokolips. looks like he has disappeared for good.

so we're right at the halfway point as far as game completion goes. good luck folks and enjoy. :D

This map is a pretty serious map in the cc world, strategy should prevail, I know there are a lot of regulars here that appreciate the set-up. It is slow but it's done right, the first time. Good work and I do like playing everyone one time for fair results in the end.

I totally agree. This is CC's best map by far and so far it's been a cracking tourney.

I regret to inform you that I need to withdraw from this tourney effective immediately. This is not a decision I make lightly. I believe that when you join, you are making a commitment to both the TO and the players and that is a commitment I take seriously.

I am dealing with an ongoing family emergency (Dad had stroke) and I am the family go-to person for this crisis, as my mom is severely crippled. I continue to check in to CC daily because it is an important part of my life.

Having said that, I have to reduce my game load to 80 or less. It is currently at 132 and was at 220 when this crisis started, ten days ago. Drastic measures have to be taken for me to be able to successfully manage some games, or I will not be able to manage anything at all.

I have already spoken to the TO and have his understanding and well wishes and I am very appreciative of his reply. I will leave any Tourney stuff to him and expect an update to follow here if needed.

Good luck to everyone and again, please accept my apologies for disrupting this event at this time.

SCORES UPDATED.

ALSO, IN LIGHT OF STEALTHS DEPARTURE, THAT WILL AWARD THE #2 SEED WITH A FIRST ROUND BYE AS WELL ONCE THE BRACKET STARTS.

SO, BASICALLY, THE NO. 1 AND NO. 2 SEEDS WILL HAVE THE LUXURY OF A FIRST ROUND BYE.

ONLY 20 GAMES REMAIN ACTIVE, SO MY MID JUNE ESTIMATES SEEM TO STILL BE HOLDING UP.
