The NEED FOR SPEED Tournament [1 left] STARTING SATURDAY

Well, I thought since Speed games have just been introduced, it's time for a Need for Speed tournament.

Structure is as follows. 32 players, one-on-one elimination style tournament. Each round is best of 3 games. Games can be run simultaneously. (wow, won't that mess with your mind!). Each round will have a different theme, starting with Classic - Flat - Chained and leading up to the grand final on World 2.1

Round 1: Classic - Flat - Chained
Round 2: British Isles - Flat - Chained
Round 3: North America - Flat - Chained
Round 4: Africa - Flat - Chained
Round 5: World 2.1 - Flat - Chained

All games Sequential, and Speed

Now, of course, the trick of this is going to be organising a time that you and your opponent can both be online for an hour or so please only reply if you've got a flexible timetable. It might help to post your timezone so I can try schedule the initial games into timezone chunks, but once we get into the upper rounds it becomes up to you.

The major delay in this tourney will be finding that time when you can both be online. I will expect opponents, once notified, to confer in pm to arrange a time that is mutually suitable.

Here's the tournament initial draw. I will be pming people with game numbers and passwords. If you have a bye round, you're automatically through to the next round unless more people sign up.

Welcome all :) you're all in!

If you could give me your timezone in terms of GMT+ or GMT- then I'll try arrange things around that. It's probably going to come down to each individual game working its own timings out.

Clive - if it doesn't work, at least it'll be quick haha :)

I'm GMT. Not necessarily - most of play might end up only being able to take place on the weekend, cause i'm back at college next week and will only be available england evening time :P

I'll join, UTC-4 here.

Edit: unfortunately there aren't many times when I'm free every week, just lots of half-hours here and there. Division B would work the best, but I'm only biweekly :( . The best time for me would be Sunday, GMT 4PM-midnight.

Actually. I think Pacific time is GMT -8.

I am Eastern time GMT -5. I think that's right. I was just at Greenwich a few weeks ago. I should know..

All in so far :) seems we have a lot of US players which is good, I was thinking weekends might be easier to get games happening (generally people's times are freer).

As to the question on starting a game then logging off... before you -join- the game, you should confer with your opponent on pm, or even in live chat to make sure you're both online and have the time...

You're right that it wouldn't be fair if you idled out, so only start games when you've got the time to finish them, but really, these speed games are just that... quite speedy...
