Sorry - just not enough interest to make this a viable competition at present so I am asking for the thread to be moved to the ABANDONED forum. If anyone else fancies taking it up at a later stage, you are very welcome to do so: the post of Chief Juctice of the Supreme Court is hereby vacated!

What about Independants? I would join, but no time for tourneys right now

independents

There are at present no credible declared independent candidates. If there are before Summer 2008, my format provides for their wild-card inclusion in the Presidential Election. But given that Mayor Bloomberg has in the past been both a Dem and a Rp. it seems to me fair that the wild cards shd be available first to those who embark on the race from the start. :-)

I'm in as a Republican. Do we get assigned (or choose) a canidate?

candidate choice

there would be a certain number of slots in the name of eight announced candidates on each side -- more for front runners, fewer for also-rans. Your choice would have a small influence on ultimate outcome:

- less competition in the first round, for also-rans
- balanced by a tournament points penalty if your candidate withdraws and you have to endorse another
- BUT a bonus if you back an also-ran and he makes it to the Primaries proper.

I don't think this is going to get off the ground anyway so I will stop wasting time on it!

so far 5 would be Dems and 4 would-be Republicans....

a weak show but enough to run a reasonable campaign with "primaries" on either side??
