I estimate him to be worth between 1 and 3 points. I'll add him to the tournament and I'll let the managers decide his value now (state your opinions). He can't be resigned, so he will be a FA come week 3 (so we can appraise his true value).

After week 1 is it possible to be valued at -1 pts as me being anything of positive value is very far fetched lol.

That would not be fair, considering our managers range from general to sergeant. The 200 points would be artificial if one team had a general giving advice away while another had a sergeant.

I didn't previously make a rule concerning that, though.

I agree, otherwise a general can hire 9 seargents for 1 each and play better than other players. Managers should be limited to picking teams, maps, players, and cheering them on etc.

And what are you going to do if one guy starts PMing or private chatting his team ideas anyway? You'll never know, there is no way for you to know if no one tells you.

That makes me feel like we're in a "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns" situation. Anyone can get away with it if they want, I don't know if anyone will, it just feels like a punishment for people with morals who follow rules even when they are positive no one's looking.

I believe mc asked it just to be completely sure what is and what is not allowed as this tournament is specific . as Rodion answered it is not allowed, I doubt anyone will do it.

I'm going to let my players play. I'm not the level of mc05025 but I think the managers job ends at picking teams/maps. I doubt anyone will do it.

Not that it really matters, but isn't the job of a manager to manage. As in any sport, the manager coaches his/her players. As with many games, the team with the better coach has a better chance of winning. That is not always the case, but it helps your odds. But if the rule is no coaching, then we will live by the rule. Good luck everyone.

i did not take the time to google this, but i think baseball is the only sport where the "manager" is the coach. from what i understand, the way this tournament is set up is for the manager to be more or less the "owner" of a franchise.

in which case the owner hires a coach to make all the plays.

we have no coach here, probably because at the beginning of the tourney no one could see the tremendous amount of time everyone is going to put into trying to bend and manipulate the course of the tournament in order to suit everyone's personal needs. i think in the next tournament similar to this there needs to be a law firm go over the rules and regulations before the tournament begins. this is probably a good reason why tonka truck company has already replaced a manager before a game has been played.

in my opinion, why would a manager want to be a player ( give advice in this case ). shouldn't he have signed up to be a player. and vice versa. not that my opinion matters to you bunch of dorks :geek: ( i know, i'm a dork too, but seriously, check out how many pages of responses have been made in this one tourney before the game has started ) but man, let's get this show on the road, we'd need a detective to go through everyone's pm's. let's just label it unsporting and move on.

meanwhile, me and dibbler have started 3 games and are planning on slicing through the doubles competiton in record speed this first week. while ya'll are squabbling, we are auto-rolling. good luck teams, but mainly good luck to THE CLUELESS

EDIT;

and rodion, do you think you can post the teams and players in your first post. maybe the matchups too. i know it's a lot to ask, but it would be pretty convenient.

The managers are manaaging. Were putting the players wheee they are best suited and helping them find their "move" in the game (map).

We shouldn't be on the field yelling at then to throw to first base, or pass to their teammate. That's for the players and why sum PLAYERS are more valuable. Get a general and u will have a general on the field.

I would think generic "managing" (ie: don't leave 1's for defense) but NOT specific (I'd: game X make sure u leave defense on Boston) would be ok.

Guerilla Gorillas went Random?! That's a bit brave, bit crazy. So many quad maps on Random you don't want. And you could serve up yourr opponent with a map they are better on.

If my guys play you and we get Hive dubs I'll fid a way to strangle you through the computer :D

Alright, sorry, but it'd be extremely taxing for me to do that.

It's really really easier to find games dude. I posted mine vs Tonka on page 80 for anyone who cared, but it's a huge thing to post 14 weeks of games, for every bteam....

to clarify, i'm not so much concerned with the games, mainly just a list on rodions first post right at the top of the teams. and possibly a weekly standing. like;

team 1, player player player player.....
team 2, player player player player.....
team 3, player player player player.....
tea.........................................
.............................................
.............................................
.............................................
.............................................

week 1
team 1 0-2
team 2 3-0

sorry for the confusion. but yes, i understand that putting all the games on it would be more work than what would be fun.

EDIT;

and when i said matchups i was talking about something like;

week 1,

team a vs team b
team c vs team d
team e vs team f

The trips at least are working out for us so far ;) I dont think we are going to stay random just PearlJammer was to busy to identify maps with deadlines pressing so chose random. No Spoils sunny hive doubs sounds tasty though . . .

Schedule was on page 57, I have it book marked. It reappeared more recently as well but I don't have that one on hand. (same thing tho).

As far as team 1: player, player player....
Team 2 player player player.....

All you need to do is book mark the most recent update from rodion regarding end of bidding. Late 70's for pages if memory serves.
